apparently the sun's 93 million miles away...and just to give you an idea how far that is, the speed of light, is measured at 1860000 miles per second, can travel around the world twice a second. You seen the movie superman, well it looks like he's travelling close to light speed or beyond it. and light to get from the sun to us takes 8 minutes so 8 minutes 8 x 60 seconds of travelling at that speed(twice around the earth every second)

93,000,000 million miles from earth...can be calulated since speed of light velocity is 180,000 feet per sec , and it takes something like 8 1/2 minutes for the suns light to reach the earth.
