You definitely can bath your piggies, and should do around once a month especially in summer. keeping them clean helps prevent fly strike and skin disease.
use warm water in the kitchen sink, and wash them gently with a veterinary shampoo. Rinse well, and don't get it in their eyes or let them groom themselves while the shampoo is working. Dry them gently with a towel - if they are long haired you can brush them under water and use a hairdryer on low heat - they soon learn to accept this.
Don't let them get cold - keep them in till they are dry. my piggies are now 2 years old and quite enjoy their bath, but be as gentle as you can while yours get used to it - being bathed is quite frightening for them to start with.

How do you bathe a Pig? Very carefully :-) .

Actually, the best way is to spot clean them with a wet cloth and try to wipe them off really good. If your pigs get really gunky, you'll have to fill the tub or sink with an inch or two of Luke warm water. No soap is needed. Work the dirt out with your fingers and then towel dry them as best you can. You could also use a hair dryer but make sure the temp is low.

Guinea pigs love to squirm as you probably already know. Make sure you have a good grip on your guy if you're using a sink as they may try to jump.

Good luck! Wet pigs are very cute!

I am 20 years old. I have had guinea pigs since I was 4 years old.. Ya sometimes a guinea pig can get a little dirty. Just put them in the bath tub with luke warm water. And use baby shampoo or rabbit shampoo. You can get rabbit shampoo at any pet store. And just put it one them gentle. They love baths. Make sure you keep the water very low though and keep the shampoo away for eyes, nose etc. And when you get them out just clean the bath tube of course and you can blow dry the guinea pig but on low heat and low air.. Their not going like it very much.. or you can just use a towel.. Well I hope I helped you out with your guinea pig.

I would ask your veterinarian first. I would think the younger the better, but ask the vet first. In a sink with warm water and the right pet shampoo. They make one for multiple small animals like: rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. I used to have an angora guinea pig. He had to be groomed a LOT. Wash one at a time. Use a deep sink so they can't jump out easily-I liked the kitchen sink/in a dishpan or in the bathtub/in a dishpan-(if your shower head is a hanging handheld shower massager) because it is deep and it has the handy sprayer for rinsing. Also remember to try to avoid getting anywhere ears and forwards wet as this can make them vulnerable to colds and such. Then you wrap your piggy up nice and snugly in a big warm towel and hold him while gently towel drying and he should purr for ya. Don't forget to brush him!
(*WARNING-Never leave a guinea pig in a bath/sink/dishpan unattended!!*) Hope that helps. PHEW!

The best way that I have found to bath a guinea pig is with a wet, warm, wash cloth. This way you aren't soaking them completely in water. Pet stores also make a spray that you can use also, and I have found that it works quit well too. I hope this helps and good luck!

I owned a guinea pig for 6 years, and he never needed a bath. They're pretty clean animals.

Here is a website dedicated to bathing guinea pigs, though:

I have owned guinea pigs and have never given them baths. Just make sure you change the litter in their cages often (several times a week) and they should stay pretty clean.

As long as you clean out it's hutch/cage every day there is no need to bath a guinea pig. Occasionally you may have to clean the scent gland if it gets waxy.

I have bought some Johnsons small pet shampoo from Wilkinsons, and I wash her in the kitchen sink. Run a little warm water in the sink, just enough for her to stand in. rinse guinea in the water and rub a little shampoo in her fur, taking care around the eyes, then rinse it all out with fresh warm water, and dry her well, before putting her back. I also use the hairdryer on the warm setting.
