Depends on which way you're going ... male to female or female to male.

The cost of a sex change surgery varies with region, extensiveness of the surgery and whether or not the client is being changed from a man to a woman or vise versa. The most costly alteration is the vaginal vault creation; The penile tissue must be fenestrated and articulated, not to mention extensively re-ennvervated and vascularized. The success rate for a well-lubricating altered vaginal vault is less than 40%, and the client usually must face a lifetime of artificial lubrication and moisturizing.

Finding a qualified surgeon is not as hard as one might think, however. Inquiring with the local medical board will usually afford the client with a competent surgeon. Just watch out for the guy who's Yellow Pages listing is titled, "LUBE JOBS & CHANGES"

Hope this helps!
