I don't think so. The guy will be 33 later this summer, and as of today has 2,173 hits. This puts him only about halfway to Rose's career total. He would need 200 hits per year each of the next ten years to even come close, and he will likely slow down before the age of 43.

Jeter would have to average almost 180 hits a season for the next 10 years to catch Rose. I'm betting that Derek Jeter will not still be playing when he's 44 years old. He won't even get within 700 hits of Pete Rose.

Not a chance. He will get 3000 though. He is 33 or 32 I think, and he would have to get over 2000 hits by the time he retires to do it, and that would have to be, on average, 200 hits a season for the next 10 years. Not happening.

If he got 200 hits a season for the next 10 seasons (he'd be 42 in 10 years) he'd still be over 100 hits short of the record. So I'd say it's not likely to happen.

Jeter's got a teeny-tiny chance, but it's so small that it's in the noise and not the signal.

Miguel Cabrera has a better chance. It's still a tiny chance, but he's in better position than Jeter.

Jeter would have to hit better than his career average for the next 12 years to do that. It just plain ain't happening.

i doubt it, Ichiro has more of a chance to do so. he's had 200 or more hits for 6 consecutive seasons, and if he had played in the majors when he was young, he would've easily beaten Pete Rose's record.

I really hope he does. He's such a great player and really deserves it. Right now, he might not be so hot, but he's still great and it'll show later in the season.
