Squared Symbol In Excel

I have the same question. But non of you answered it so far. The question is how do you put a square root symbol into excel. Typing this "^2" is for math. I am not using it for a math equation. This is for a label. And I do not have a number keypad on the right. It's 2014, no one uses big keyboards anymore unless you're an accountant. Now you can always go to Insert tab and click on Symbols button, but I have no idea where in there it is. There are so many categories and symbols. Does anyone know what category the squared symbol is in?

You use the "^" symbol. Thus, to have cell B1 be equal to the value of A1 squared, you would write "=A1^2".

Press the 'Num-lock' key (num-lock lights up)
Press and HOLD the 'ALT' key.
On the keypad under the numlock, type 253 and release the 'Alt' key, the ' ² ' will appear where you place the cursor in your document. (switch off num-lock)..
