I think it is entirely possible with a combination of luck and skill. Don't you agree?

That will never happen. 162 games is too much anyway, but the players would tire and it would be impossible to win every game.

Look how hard it is for a team to go 16-0 in the NFL, the chances of a team going 162-0 have to be a ridiculous fraction, because it will never happen. The amount of luck and skill needed for this to happen is not possible.

Not possible. Luck and skill are involved, but it a virtual impossibility to have a team go 162-0.

The 1927 Yankees won 110 games with RF Babe Ruth,1B Lou Gehrig,C John Grabowski,3B Joe Dugan,2B Tony Lazzeri,LF Bob Meusel,SS Mark Koenig to name a few is considered in baseball to be the greatest team in history. The Yankees of the 21st century can't even win 95 games with a payroll over 200 million dollars about 60 million dollars more than the team with the 2nd highest payroll. So to answer your question it will never happen, there is too much parity in baseball.

A baseball team could go 162-0 in theory but they would kill themselves (especially the bullpen) trying to pull off that feat. No gas left for October then. Most teams go soft and prepare for the playoffs, if they know they are going to win at least 100 games and aren't in a super tight race. There is an old saying in pro baseball: A team is going to win 60 games and lose 60 games, what they do with the other 42 is up to them.

The seasonal wins record is 116 and the win streak record is 26 (and that included a tie game, which essentially never happen any more).

If it were rationally possible, we'd have seen at least one close attempt by now. Baseball just doesn't work out that way.

Statistically the odds of a team winning:

1 game = 1 in 2, or 1 in 2^1, (Either W or L)
2 games = 1 in 4, or 1 in 2^2, (Either WW, WL, LW, or LL)
3 games = 1 in 8, or 1 in 2^3, (Either WWW, WWL, WLW, WLL, LWW, LWL, LLW, or LLL)

162 games = 1 in 5.846 x 10^48th, or 1 in 2^162
(About 5 quindecillion to 1)....

I think the longest a team has gone undefeated at the start of a season is only 16 games. So no.

Better chances of going 0-162....Especially if it were my little league team. If you could throw a stop ball like in Baseball Simulator 1.000 you could go undefeated.

Just having a 50 game winning streak would be beyound amazing. But to have 162 game winning streak is unimaginable.

The odds would be catastrophic.
