I've been doing a lot of researches lately. I'm surprise to find out that USA doesn't treat disabled peopel too well until not too long ago (mid 1900's).

Even today they still doesn't. Many disabled people I know struggles with their life because it's so difficult for them to get any amount of respect from anyone. In order to earn the same respect as everyone else, they have to work twice as hard.

Before that, they use to put disabled people in mental hospital and leave them in there for their whole life.

From my research, I cannot find any evidence of European treating their disabled people like that (beside Nazis time). In fact they have large amount of successful disabled people compare to USA.

When I was in Europe, despite of being deaf, I feel so much more relaxed and accepted. I feel like I can approach to anyone and they would take time to at least try get know to me instead of simply shut me out like as they does in USA. I've met a lot of deaf people from there and they

seems to be doing way more well than most deaf american.

So this got me really curious. I still can't grasp the fact why people claim I'm better off staying in USA if american basically treat disabled people like a subhuman?

Why do European treat them much better? Is it because they're more understanding and tolerating? What could it be that make them treat others better?

Oh are you sure CS? Then howcome so many deaf people in USA never get anywhere in life? Majority of them live on govt. Income and do drugs. Many of them never graduate from high school. I and only three other graduated out of roughly 15 that was suppose to graduated with us. Many of them never attend college and get pregnant before they're even ready to be a adult.

Go ahead and make fun of my grammar, however just read my blog on my 360 and you'll understand why my grammar isn't great.

Interesting question. As a person with a disability I am actually shocked that USA is known for their well treatment of the disabled. I hadn't heard that claim before but it doesn't shock me. I'm sure it's all the "do gooders" who martered themselves by getting all people with disabilities out of their assisted living situations. Honestly- some people did need saving that goes undenied but I was ripped from a hospital that I had called my HOME for over 7 years only to be thrown into a world where I was shunned there were no safe curbs so I could go for walks, I couldn't even get a drink of water from a fountain at school, I had to be carried into the building at school as there were no ramps. I ate lunch in my classroom by myself and Never played at recess. Oh and the GLORIOUS 560.00 Exactly which bill should I pay this month?!?! and I gotta say HAHA to the people who say THEY and THEM as we are a minority that YOU can join at any given time GOD FORBID!! I'm just sayin!

I believe that the government can treat the disabled better but it up to the people to learn that our disabilities are not contagious.
Most people in this country are afraid of what they do not know. They need to be educated about the fact that, even though we have disabilities, our brains still functions. Some are so brilliant it can be scary.

As for the comment about the ones that live off the government, not having a high school education and doing drugs, you must look in the mirror before throwing stones. I am a high school graduate, I also have some college classes in there. I have worked since I was 9 in a family restaurant. I do not enjoy having to depend on the government for my income. But with my disabilities I have no choice.

Like others, look in the mirror before you lay judgment. Walk in someone else's shoes for a month.
