HE needs to do something about smoking, but HE must want to stop. Unfortunately, there is really nothing you can do. I don't mean to sound unkind, but it is only a matter of time before he gets very ill.

I smoked Camel Turkish Gold 100's (takes breath, yes i know) as a teen from about 11 years of age to about 19. I just recently quit for the second time. I used to also get camels for my friends. I think it could be based on region and the influence of such. Cowboys aren't a big deal around New Orleans. Of course, until about 13 I didn't even know how to inhale the cigarette, but then I began to try others. I couldn't find any I liked as much as the Turkish Golds. Marlboro Number 27s are okay but just an imitation of what I like when I can't find them.

I know it's scary for you & you want to help your Dad, but there really isn't anything that you can do. I use to smoke & whenever anyone said anything to me about it, all it did was make me want to smoke more. I don't know why, but every smoker I know says the same thing. Believe me smokers do know the health risks & reasons that they should quit, it's just very hard to do. All smokers think about quiting & wish they could, they just don't tell anyone that because then people will push them & make it even harder. If you really want to help your Dad, don't preach at him, or nag him. Be on his side & if you hear him say anything at all about quiting, or cutting back, then encourage him. If he feels your not going to be so pushy, then he might trust you enough to let you help him. He needs your support, not another lectrure. Quiting smoking was the hardest thing I've ever had to do! It is still a struggle for me every day & it's been over a year since I quit! Good Luck!!! & I hope your Dad does quit, for both of you!

I can understand your concern, but there really isn't much you can do. If your Dad really wants to give up smoking, the decision must be his alone. Four packs of Camels is a lot, and it will be difficult for him to stop completely. It would probably be more realistic if he tried to cut down slowly. Be supportive and show him that you care, but don't pressurise him to stop smoking.

Don't inhale the air around him!
Totally disgusting habit! Second hand smoke is worse than direct smoke. He is an inconsiderate slob destined to die from lung cancer.
