Look into the Alaska Ferry.
It leaves Bellingham, WA and goes up to various ports in Alaska. This way, you would never officially leave the U.S.

As far as driving through Canada, depending on how long ago your conviction was, and for what, you may or may not be able to.

Hope you get there and enjoy!

Contrary to what the first poster said, you can drive into Canada without a passport until 2008. You cannot fly there without a passport. But with your unique situation you either need to do some homework first or avoid Canada entirely. You can drive to Bellingham, Washington and catch the Alaska Marine Highway ferry. I can tell you from experience that when you go through Canadian customs bound for Alaska they will be going through your stuff (and your record) with a fine-tooth comb. You would also be interviewed and they examine the facts (do you have a job in Alaska, how much tread is on your tires, when was your last tune-up, how much money do you have in the bank, etc) to determine if there is any chance you'll get stranded in Canada and become a burden to their government. If they feel anything is awry they'll turn you around and deport you immedately and you'll find yourself driving to Bellingham to complete your journey. You wont need any special paperwork to ride the ferry unless you are transporting animals (pets) then you'll need a health certificate for each animal. Alaska does not have an animal quarantine.

That being said if you find out your conviction is not a disqualifying offense let me give you important advice. Canadian gasoline, especially in the Yukon territory, is not octane rated (your only choices are UNLEADED and DIESEL) and you should bring gas treatment (STP will work, anything that boosts octane) if you are driving an American car unless you want to try and complete the trip on 2 cylinders. Also pay close attention to the pumps. Their diesel nozzles will fit American gasoline holes and many Americans can't read the warning signs for some reason. I also recommend bringing a 5 gallon gas can filled with American premium unleaded. Gas stations on the Alcan highway are close enough together to keep your tank from getting empty unless there is any kind of emergency. And if you do get some bad gas American premium unleaded will help clean things out. Lastly, and most importantly, spend the few dollars it takes to buy The Milepost- THE travel guide for driving to Alaska.

You do have a problem. In order to overland to Alaska from the lower forty-eight, you must pass through Canada. The Canadians frown on ex-felons coming into their country.

Depending on your conviction you might be able to post a bond to travel through Canada on your way to Alaska; check with the local Canadian Customs and Immigration folks or on line.

The only other possibility would be by the Alaska Marine highway; as long as they do not port in Canada, you could go that way. This is the Alaska Marine Ferry system.

Good Luck.

You can't go by vehicle! You need a passport to get into Canada now and even with a passport Canada will not let you in because you are a convicted felon! The only way for you to go to Alaska is to fly!

I just recently tried https://tr.im/sWhtW last month to see if I could track down my birth-parent. My bio father left me when I was 8, and has refused to contact me since. I grew up with my biological Mother and Step-father. I have only ever talked to my biological dad a couple times till recently. All I knew of him personally when I conducted the search was his full name, and the state of a previous address he used to have.
When the results came back based on the minimal info I had, It pulled up a current address even his phone number. When I called the phone no., I heard the voice of what sounded like it may be my step-brother. I asked if Joseph(my bio father) was present, and he said no but to try back after 7.
I haven't done anything with the info since, But yeah I found what I was interested in.
