I am part african, and when a girl made that joke, I made so many jokes about slavery that made her cry! ha ha ha!
Only ppl with a slave mentality are that ignorant. But then, I don't hold it against them because of only the scum of Africa got shipped off as slaves! :)
lets just say that the girl that I ....... haven't spoken to each other to this day

On one level, it's racial/ethnic, and on another level it is a social thing and not just a racial thing. It is a pressure to homogenize with the community. Part of the race problem in my opinion is that physical traits can't change, so people who look different than the dominant group have a hell of a time trying to fit in (sometimes it really is impossible depending on the dominant group, for example in the Jim Crow South), and usually give up.
I am white and go to school in Oakland, I see this going on all the time and these three African guys in my class work so hard except one who pathetically tries to impress AA friends through his dress and acting foolish in class. Alternatively I see this all going on within "white" or any other culture. I see plenty of AA's doing their own thing, being a "sucker", and going places after school.
There is also the issue of colorism, people such as Asians with light skin automatically looking down on dark-skinned Asians, even when they are from the same country.
Are people just bringing their childhood fear of the dark into their adult lives?

The answer is simple. ALL Blacks are not of African ancestry. And the girl-or whoever told you- who said that Africans "dance around" needs to take a good look at BET or Vh1. She also needs to do a little research. Despite what we are shown on documentaries or other shows on television, there are countries within Africa that are quite advanced and where the people are well educated.
We do not see such progess by design.

I do not make fun of any race, especially not Africans. I would not date an African if I was single either. Culturally we are too different.

I don't know of any who do but for the ones who do they are complete and utter fools; they must think that they are better than Africans but in actuality it seems that Africans come here and get the job done (generalization)

We do do this and it is ignorance I am guilty of this in a lot of ways one is I don,t think Africans are very clean and a lot of the ones I have been around are not clean by my standards. The Africans have a lot of different customs that American blacks don,t have
