I am interested in pursuing my own, part time business...or full time depending on clients. My only concern is the price of all the licensing to go through, is it really worth it for a business they may not leave the ground? Mind you I am starting a little to no capital based business, so start up costs won't really hurt me much, but I am just concerned about the licensing prices..Does anyone know how much they are on average? (and yes, i KNOW they vary by state/type.)

Go to your local Chamber of commerce and ask for a business start up kit - it will explain which licenses you NEED in order to do business. Licenses and tax ID are crucial some others can be delayed for the first 6months. It is really important to prove legitimacy when starting a business it will make it easier to get community support too. There are a myriad of great opportunities for new business but if you aren't licensed, registered and have a Tax ID you miss out on the majority of them. Good Luck!

It completely varies depending on where you live. Contact your chamber of commerce.

I was worried about licensing, but finally got ahold of someone, and it turns out for my business I don't even need a license! All I had to do was mail in some forms to get a tax ID number. Pretty cheap/easy.

It does vary but is not extremely expensive. Contact the Dept. of Commerce in your county. If you have confidence in your business venture and are willing to work hard at it...you may be pleasantly surprised by its success. Don't let licensing fees stop you from pursuing, because the are minimal

Check at your local courthouse to find out how much the fees are. The fees not only vary from state to state and county to county, but from business type to business type.

out of city limits, not a dime for license cuz none is needed,,
