A Smart can be driven on any full licence.

Its semi-automatic because it doesnt have a clutch pedal, but you have the opition to choose when to change gear via the triptronic style gear stick (or if you want a paddle shift can be fitted).

Higher spec Smarts also have the facility to be fully automatic (st the press of a button) and change thorough all 6 gears using a variable map depending on how much you press the fun pedal.

No you can drive it on an automatic license.
They call it "semi automatic" because there is no clutch pedal, you just select the gears via the gear shift, without having to worry about engaging the clutch.
You need a manual car license for cars that use a clutch pedal, as it takes more skill to engage gears smoothly and correctly yourself ten to let the automatic gearbox do it for you.

If the car is semi-automatic then a manual driving license is required.

No you don't need a manual licence for a semi auto car, but should you have an accident whilst using the gears there may be problems and you could be found at fault.

i own a shop and a drivers license is good to drive either car with, you don't need a different license to drive this one with, one license will be good enough for any car or pick up truck, good luck hope this helps.

Just a regular licence, but ....DO NOT GET A SMART CAR!!! Are they safe in a crash? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I wouldn't drive one of these coffins on wheels if they paid me. Never has such a blatant disregard for human safety ever been allowed on the road!! If you don't believe me check out my blog on the smart car....WARNING...it contains VERY GRAPHIC accident photos of someone in a smart car. The guy is literally hauled away in pieces....AWFUL!! Had he been driving a normal sized car he might have lived....Smart cars have not been tested for safety at highway collision speeds!!!! I'm tellin you, you would not survive in one of these cars...
Here's the link to my blog... NOTHING SMART ABOUT THE SMART CAR!!!!
