I tried store products, it's easier to rent a cleaner.

How do I clean my couch upholstery?

There is no real effective home cleaning method for cleaning upholstery. A professional cleaning is best, check our FIND A PRO section for someone in your area. Techniques for spot cleaning can be found in the stains section of the web page for specific stains check the carpet section, the techniques for carpet stain removal are the same for upholstery.

A quick cleaning tip is to fill your sink with water and a dish soap and allow the soap to really bubble and using ONLY the bubble part use a cleaning towel(white) put some of the bubbles on the towel and wipe the couch you will be able to remove some of the surface dirt but this is not an effective deep cleaning method. Using only the bubbles gives you some cleaning power without wetting down the couch.

Precautions:
You should always test a small area when using a new chemical or technique you have not tried before.

FYI: Do not use bleach...I sprayed clorox cleaner on my couch and it totally ruined the fabric and caused the fabric to tear/shred. I blame it on the dog...but I know it was from using the bleach.
