It depends on the company for one. If you're going with a company like Thrifty Maid or the likes of, you're probably looking at a minimum of 3 people in the house. A private cleaner is usually 1-2 depending on what you want done. And that ties into your cost.
You can have someone come in and just do a 'surface' cleaning or you can have someone come in and do a detailed cleaning.
I worked for a lady that does detail only and she charges $30 an hour (Colorado) and will bring in an additional person so it's more like $60 an hour but, they do DETAIL...baseboards, cabinets, picture frames and all the little stuff plus the big stuff each time. I worked for a lady that did pretty much surface only and she charged like half that (Florida). She wouldn't do things like baseboards and picture frames or dust the legs of the tables, just the 'surface'.
I've never heard of VAT so I can't answer that question.

So, all in all... if you want a more detailed cleaning, you'd go with a private cleaner vs a big company but, be prepared to pay AT LEAST $15-$20 an hour minimum and with a big company be prepared for less detailed cleaning and probably a flat rate for the square footage of your home.

UK prices for a cleaner would be between 7-10 pounds per man-hour.

A company will charge VAT if they are registered for VAT. This is based on their annual turnover of accounts.

As to the number of hours/people, it's negotiable.

You need to call a cleaning Co. to get this information. Most cleaners only spend an hr or 2 in a house depending on the size. They are very efficient and know how to tackle the cleaning with a minimum of time and effort.
