Republican's HATE, no, LOATHE conspiracies. BUT they have one exception, the environment.

Anything to do with "cleaning up" the amount of pollution for ANY reason is a "Democratic Scam" only created to reap tax money from the middle class?

Isn't having fuel efficient cars and less pollution a human goal? It has nothing to do with money, unless you expect everything to be free? Will it cost? Sure, but who's the winner in the end?

Even if "Global Climate Change" is complete BS, isn't clean air a good thing? You know, with every breath you breath in those toxins.

If it saves the planet even a little, that can't be bad. I'd also point to our addiction to ME oil, we need serious rehab for that habit.

If you think we are there for stability, then you realize it needs stability for oils sake. If atrocities is the reason, where are we in Africa? That's a genocide.

People are DYING for that precious resource. And you complain it will cost more?

Shameful...so I guess its all a scam

The battery issue is know to be a problem in the same way Solar Panels are never fully recouped in savings.

The problem is they need to have advanced research to find a good cell to replace the batteries we use now.

Cars made today are not the cars we want for the future.

From a science point of view, it is always frustrating when government officials make their decisions based solely on party affiliation. Global warming is just that, a GLOBAL issue - not a republican or democrat issue. For someone to close their mind to evidence, merely because the other side supports an issue, is ignorant. Some even think that world scientists have a "conspiracy," which is not only ludicrous, it is dangerous!

Science (the major peer-reviewed journal) predicts how global warming will change the world. Drought will return to southwest North America. Savanna will replace tropical forests. Mountain glaciers will disappear. Winters in Northern Europe will be less severe. The Mediterranean region will dry out. Arctic permafrost will thaw. Rising sea level will increase coastal flooding. Most corals will suffer major declines. If you don't think these issues will affect the quality of human life, whether it is physically or economically, you are sadly mistaken.

Our economy is dependent on cheap plastic junk from Asian sweatshops, en masse.

Our population centers are in areas like Miami and LA, where the climate is warm, so we run air conditioners like crazy.

What if people did what they knew was best, and moved to the coutry, bought a plot of land, and harvested their own organic vegetables?

You would share meals with the other people in the village, work in town ... Come home, go to bed when it is dark . . .

No plastic junk, no item of clothing would go unworn, people would use stuff until it was absolutely unusable.

Reuse, recycle and repair ...

For one, the economy would collapse.

Therefore, when people hear that their way of life is ruining our "habitat" the prospect of change is very scary ...

(and yes, there is an ecological balance and we are draining our planet's resources)

In a lot of ways, our economy is dependent on the world's wealthiest instutions ...

You can protest by just not participating, but it is hard.

The majority of republicans probably don't assume that all of America is stupid and can't discern the obvious effects of global warming in the massive devastation effects of rising tides in the wake of Katrina, and the record heatwaves of 11 out of the last 12 years, and the record devastation millions of acres of American forest in the western states.

I believe what we are hearing is not representative of the republican party, but a strange offshoot of a new party called fascism or new world order global elitism.

The republicans are just caught under the delusion the GWB-Cheney represents them because he claims to be a republican.

He stands for very little of what I use to think Republicans satnd for.

I like the first posters analogy about the water. It is like the insurance companies blaming smoking for Americas air pollution problem. I have watched acid rain eat paint off of cars, and I know that isn't from smoking cigarettes.

I've hammered on a couple of the con regulars in here, and have yet to receive a response from them as to any personal actions that would be considered "
Earth-friendly" or "energy-saving."

As if to admit to being responsible (a popular con word) in that way was somehow wrong or beneath them...

It is not financially beneficial to the corporations that run this country to be environmentally friendly. So their lackeys ( Fox News, Rush etc.) claim global warming is the religion of the left in order to discredit it. The masses take hold of this tag line and repeat it ad nauseum until it starts to make sense to them.

I'm sorry... saying that something is BS does not equate to calling it a conspiracy theory....

I'll take the time to refute only one of your claims....

You say that we have an addiction to ME oil. But anytime conservatives offer a cure... i.e. drilling our own oil, nuclear power....etc, liberals say "No... the environement will suffer".

You can't have it both ways... But I digress, there is no conspiracy theory regarding the environment. It's just crap science. Thanks for asking.
