My friend went two years ago, (he returned just before the tsunami) flew to Jakarta and took the train to Bali. He's had an intestinal infection that he can't get rid of for the past 2 years. Though he was extremely careful about drinking the water, etc.

He said seeing the poverty was extremely distressing.

I would not go alone if you're a woman.

Sorry, there are several places I would much rather go than Indonesia. If I got an all expenses paid vacation that was non-transferrable, I might go, but other than that, I would rather go to Australia, or France, or England, etc.

yes, again and again - I have found -despite all the negative press that Indonesia is still a great place to visit with nice and hospitable people - and would really like to come during the final football playoffs of the Asian Games - go Uzbekistan
