The US government defines a "large" business as one with more than 500 employees.

So, a medium business would be less than 500.

They don't have a cut-off for a small business, but I would define it as 20 people or less (because many federal laws don't apply to companies with fewer than 20 employees).

So ....

Small = 1 to 20
Medium = 21 to 499
Large = 500+

I'm afraid your question is too non-specific to be answered. A large business can be anything from Exxon-Mobil to a large law firm. A medium business can be anything from a large law firm to a retail store. A small business can be anything from a retail store to a guy working out of his garage. This is just a particular perspective. The size of the business is determined relative to the goal you wish to achieve. What in particular are you trying to achieve?
