I'm not sure how the siphon thing works...I mean I know how to start it and stuff...but I'm not sure whether my tube..thats kinda thin, gonna have the strenth to suck out the debris at the bottom. Also do I do the siphoning with the fish in the bowl?

Yes it will work - as one answerer before me said, it will be much slower to do any major water changes this way. As long as the end outside the bowl/tank is lower than the end inside, you'll get a good suction. You may have to scrape any algae before you start siphoning, though. I've had these clog with small pieces of gravel and plant parts, but this is how I sometimes clean tanks with fry - I like the better control over the amount of area that's cleaned and all I have to do is bend (crimp) the tubing to stop the flow if anyone gets too close. Larger fish aren't that bothered by the tubing - if anything, after a while they're curious about the stuff getting sucked up and will come over to check it out. Just go around them and try not to catch their fins.

It might work, it will probably be a little tougher to get started than a gravel vaccuum but you should be able to get it. Shake the end that's in the tank up and down really quickly to try to create a vaccuum, or suck on the end outside the tank until the water gets close to the end. The best thing to do would be to go to a pet store and get one of the gravel vaccuums that are designed for doing this, they have a big tube on the end that makes it easier to get the vaccuum started.

You could but it would take a long time to drain and you wouldn't be able to suck any of the larger particles of debris in the tank out, so it really wouldn't be worth it.
