Does anyone know what the laws are reguarding headlight bulb colors in Michigan. Im looking for new bulbs for my Yamaha r6 and was thinking of nokya artic purple 8500k. Someone told me that those (8500k bulbs) are illegal. Anyone know for sure?

only white bulbs are legal in michigan. go here, and scroll down to equipment requirements. it clearly says "white", and that is what the cop will cite.

Here is a link to the Michigan Vehicle Code. Hope this helps. Don't think these bulbs are specifically covered in there though.

I would also suggest simply talking to an officer in your city, or call the State Police. They could surely advise you.

In addition to being illegal (not white as required) it's dumb. Anything above about 4000K goes into the blue spectrum, which is not good visible light. You might as well unplug the bulb if you don't wanna see, it's cheaper.

The only colors allowed are White and Amber.

Red = Fire
Blue = Police
Amber = Tow truck, Plow truck
Purple = FUNERAL

White lights to the front, red to the rear......Red/Blue warning lights may vary by state (FD & PD)
