US always dictated terms to these countries, and animosity has built up. Venezuela found new strength with oil money and is trying to counterbalance US power. Many Latin AMerican country no longer see US as its only trading partner and now rely on CHina as well. They can now speak out with out fear of totlally destroying their economy. Failure to see their country go under US influence, they wish to seek other means. Bush has ignored it southern neighbor and Latin AMerica has strayed. Bolivia is antagonistic towards US because globalization has destroyed its economy. Their water bill is astronomical compared to what they make. It's mostly the English fault, but they blame US because we convince them to open up their market. We made promises to Nicaragua that if they drop communism their economy would improve. That failed to materialize.

Chavez is a murderous dictator. NIcaragua is a third world country with an unstable government. What's your point?

The Latin American countries have decided that capitalism does not really work to their advantage. Mexicans put it nicely, "So far from God, and so close to the US."

Maybe they don't like us. They don't want to be our friends anymore. Ungrateful wretches.
