Im not picking on them or anything, but have you noticed that?

They are either very very old, or somewhat slow. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but haven't they learned by now that maybe its the reason why so many thieves steal from their stores?

the only reason for that person is to greet u when u come in the store, not to stop robbers

Many young people would not be interested in being greeters because it is rather a boring job. Greeters are not usually responsible for security. An organisation like Wal Mart has electronic security measures and a band of dedicated security officers either employed directly by Wal Mart or employed by a security company contracted to protect Wal Mart stores.

this is not appropriate simply because your discriminating against people due to age and mentality. I never knew "greeters" were security. They stand in the front of the store to greet and that it is. Also, the elderly should be applauded because they are not willing to become stagnant after retirement. Theses people want a job just like everyone else so what the problem? It's called EOE and you should thanking God for it...

It is the easiest job to do, It does not require any heavy lifting they always greet with a smile or hello. Wal mart is very wise in this and it keeps the elderly working why not? A brilliant plan if I do say so.

If you ever worked retail you would know why. A lot of retail jobs require heavy lifting and a lot of walking from one end of the store to the other end. Also elderly people are more out going and more polite to the shoppers. The fact that they are at the front of the store has nothing to do with shoplifting.

LMAO! Ya know, really, I think it is this; when you get old you can't control your gas, so they keep them by the door. So when they fart they can just push them out or blame the smell on something from outside.

I know that was stupid and you can tell I put alot of thought into it.

Its a way to keep the elderly employed (as a service to the community) without giving them something strenuous to do.
