Because .. the Writers of the Screenplay do NOT use the book's Contents (basically only the title) to present THEIR BIAS of what the story SHOULD contain .. and this means usually NOT the details and rich character development in the books.

That is why IF I truly enjoy a book -- I will NEVER go to see the movie -- the Movie Versions have ALWAYS Been disappointing .. and downright AWFUL most of the time.

There is simply far too much in a book to put in a movie. Most books, if every detail was translated exactly into a film, would end up being 8 hours long.
I don't want to sit in an 8-hour movie, do you?

Besides, I find books are often far TOO detailed, and I prefer movies anyway.

The writers must distill a complicated novel into two hours of cinemagraphic representation. A lot gets lost in the translation.

the writers and producers have to decide on that coz it wont fit in a 2-3 hrs film...
example: LOTR,harry potter
