I have a linksys router and have it set to channel 6 and have no problems with it. If you seem to be getting weak signals or lot of packet loss you can try another channel like 8.

In the US channels 1-11 are all available for use. Since most manufacturers ship using 1, 6 or 11 you are best to use a channel other than one of those to keep interferance to a minimum.

For your location the best channel is the one that gives you the best coverage so try changing from a low to a high number and see if range increases. Interferance can come from other routers, cordless phones, microwave ovens (many use 2.4 gig) wireless weather systems etc. so just see if you can find a channel which covers best.. You can use anyone you like the receivers will track by the SSID of your unit.. be sure to change it so you know YOUR system.

The channel you set it to depends on what's in your area. If you have a lot of people using that router then you will need to find a channel that's not in use. If not, then leave it at the default channel.
