At first I was not too upset. The foods being recalled were all cheap junk foods that no one should feed their pet and yes, that includes Science Diet, IAMS, and Eukanbua...all inferior foods.
However, now premium foods like Natural Balance and Royal Canin have been recalled. Turns out they are using cheap ingredients from China too.
So, now I don't trust the pet food industry and have just ordered a couple of books on homecooked foods.
I'm hoping no one goest back to feeding any of the recalled foods and they all go out of business...it will serve them right.
And maybe there will be some controls on the pet food industry. I also expect to start seeing labels stating all ingredients are from the USA.

There is now an criminal investagation going on about this because it got into human food now. The pigs were feed recalled food and now that the pigs ate it now some of those pigs have been slaughtered and that is up North so the FDA has to go find the people that have bought the slaughtered pigs so it won't end up on someones table. This criminal investagation should have happened sooner and not now.
The people in China will not let the FDA and menufoods go there to check the company out there and Senator Durbin had to write a letter to the Ambassador to let them get Visas to go there. If they don't let them in ,there is something fishy going on in China.

I really don't care. You can't place the blame on the pet food industries. In economics classes, what do they teach you? To get the most $, you take cheap ingredients and make as good of a product as you can, and then sell it for more money. The facts are, China offers cheap ingredients, while the US has higher prices. This has been done for years, and it's the reason we aren't totally self-sufficient here in the US.
Also, as someone else has mentioned, things being added on purpose isn't new to us. I think it's odd though that nobody else has brought this up, as to me humans are more important than animals.
I'm sorry, but I don't have the time to bake food for my dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, etc...kudos to anyone who wants to do that. While you're at it why doesn't someone mass produce it at a price to compete with the big companies. The point is, we are a working country, with no time to worry about what we buy or where it comes from. Cheap is good. Expensive is passed by.
Why are we still seeing posts HERE about the recall instead of in a political or economic category?

Since, amazingly enough, NONE of the petfoods I use were on the list, I guess I'm miffed, but otherwise, just grateful to the Pedigree folks and Purina Cat Chow folks for not being part of the recall. Plus, I pretty much only feed my pets dry food. It's cheaper for me and better for their teeth.
If it was done on purpose, I'm afraid I'm not surprised at all... once upon a time, cyanide was added to U.S. grapes imported from Chile... another time, cyanide found it's way into Tylenol capsules...
There are loonies out there that enjoy killing... it's really sad.

I dont feed my dogs that crap food anyway.
I feed then Innova dog food and its one of the BEST dog foods out there. There are LOADS of dog foods that are really good dog foods and WONT be on the recall because they dont use crappy ingredients.
There is Innova, Innova EVO, California Natural, Karma, Mother Nature, Wellness, Canidae and TimberWolf Organics.
Those are some of the BEST dog foods out there. I work and go to school, so I dont have time to make my dogs their own food. Even if I wanted to cook for my dogs, they will NEVER get enough nutrients that they need through me cooking. Dog food already HAS the nurtrients that they need.
At least now alot of people are switching to Canidae and other amazing dog foods. Iams, Eukanuba and Ol' Roy will NEVER be good food. I'm not surprised about the recalls, but I do feel bad about the thousands of people who have lost their pets.
Nobody has to go through a drastic change and feed raw meat and stuff to their dogs. Just look for a high quality dog food. My dogs lives are worth spending 20$ extra on dog food, if it means their lives.
Hope that helps.

The only good thing that came out of this for us is the fact we decided to cook and prepare all our pet food at home. Our dogs appear much healthier and happier since we made the switch to rice veggies and whatever meat we decide to give them.

From the beginning i said to myself "someone must be doing this on purpose". This deed of what's happening to these animals is the result of a sick mind! Hope they find the source quickly.

I think they should seriously find out what happened, why and who ever is responsible fined like 5,000 $. You can't bring back the pets that have already died!

I think they need to seriously shut down for awhile and figure out everything, THEN reopen and tell the public. they are getting nowhere trying to figure everything out and sell food at the same time.
