Vegetation and algae, via photosynthesis:

6 CO2 + 6 H2O ---> C6H12O6 + 6 O2

Plants do it very efficiently, and what's more they make oxygen too - as well as creating habitats for animals and other plants, sometimes being edible or having medicinal or industrial uses.

This is why destroying the rainforests is doubly bad - the 'useless' plants (i.e. not the mahogany etc) are burnt, releasing hundreds of tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, and the neutralising effect of the plants is gone. Even worse is that many plants out there are unknown to science, they don't even have a name, let alone being studied. Because plants make so many different (and above all else, useful) chemicals there could be cures for AIDS and cancer out there that are being wiped out before we can discover them.

The majority of tree's and plants take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen, where were you when they were doing biology in class. most green plants do this it's called photosynthesis. We breath out Carbon Dioxide and breath in air, Trees and plants do the opposite thank goodness. Hope this helps you see the light.
