i need some alternatives to an interview to put into my essay for uni. anyboday got any ideas?

Job simulation exercise - a far more reliable way of getting the right person is to observe them doing part of the job, possibly as a role-playing exercise.

Interview means seeing the person.There is no alternative.Group Discussions are now a days accepted as an alternative.Some companies recruit based on testimonials regarding past achievements.

Possibly be given an assignment, completion of which would
guarantee a trial period of employment.
Volunteer to work for a week (Unpaid.) to prove how useful you are.
If you are already well known in a particular field it is quite
easy to be offered employment, without the need for an interview.

Role playing is usually a good one, it gives the candidate a chance to think on his/her feet
