Ok first I will give reasons why other peoples reasons dont work
#1 Steve Smith - Yeah he had a great 2004 season. He is too short and all he has working for him is his speed. Once he slows down with age he with be a nothing.
#2 - Marvin Harrison - recently has "only" be getting about 90-1200-12 ... but he has Payton Manning throwing for him and their defense has been so bad they have to throw the ball all the time. Switch spot with Harrison and Johnson and Chad becomes easily the #1 receiver in the game
#3 Santana Moss - you are kidding me right? Way too streaky and all he has is speed
#4 TO - not even close drops too many balls - maybe in his prime
Now things against Chad Johnson. In 2006 he did get 450 yards in two games. Although that is great it was against two teams with very slow and bad right corner backs. Tack away those two games and he had a down year. Also drops some balls he should catch and lets a few too many out when he gets hit hard. Great receiver but also has one of the best quarterbacks throwing to him. He has the height but once again when his speed drops so will his stats - and drastically doesnt run the best routes.
Now the BEST WR in the NFL today is Torry Holt. In his rookie year he won his superbowl ring - Chad Johnson has yet to win one. Consistently the wide out. What I mean is average players stats for the past 4 years and his stats are the best. He averages over 100-1450-10. He is constant every game and doesnt get shutdown but anyone - Chad Johnson does. Runs the best deep routes in the NFL today. Yes he did have Warner throwing to him early but then he had Bulger - without Holt Bulger would only be a decent quarterback. He is the only top receiver that brings his quarterback from a decent QB to an elite (borderline top 5). Switch players and Holt would be the best by far with a great QB like Carson throwing to him. He runs great routes and has great hands when he gets older he will still be able to get 80-1000-8 because of his hand, height, and route running. Only negative is he does fumble about 2 balls per year.

Ummm, well its hard to say who is the best because there are three guys that just flat out dominate: Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison, and Steve Smith. They are all excellent WRs and you can make all the arguments you want about Harrison having Manning to work with, but have you see the catches that guy can make? That's not all Manning there. Steve Smith deals with triple coverage all the time because Carolina has no run game and Keyshawn just isn't as much of a threat as he used to be (and even then) and he can still get over 1,000 yards. Chad Johnson got most of his yards last season (in three games) no seriously, he had like 500 some yards in three games and did jack squat at the beginning of the season. BUT, it's the fact that he still finished with the most receiving yards in the league that makes him worth the mention. I can't really pick one of the three that I'd consider being the best one, I could go bias and say Steve Smith, but I might be lying given what the other two have done..
I can't give you a reason why he's not the best though, he's one of the best three, I can tell you that for certain...
(How did I forget about Tory Holt?...add him too)

Chad Johnson is one of the best, however what I believe is the clincher why he is not the best is against the tougher defenses he tends to struggle quite a bit, whereas the ultimate receivers like Randy Moss and Steve Smith are still able to go out and put up good numbers. If we were to put each one of those in the sam situation with quarterback (like give them each Carson Palmer), then I would have to say Randy Moss is the best because back when he was with Culpepper he would always be able to find seperation from the defensive backs, which Chad Johnson and Steve Smith can do occassionally, but not as consistantly as Moss could when he had a quarterback of the same caliber as Delhomme and Palmer.

T.J Houshmanzedah is every bit as good as Chad Johnson is, He just never really gets recognition for it. Its hard to say who the best in the NFL with the season not even starting yet. But look at all the good recievers who have terrible QB's like Randy Moss and Chris Chambers. I still believe that Randy has the potential to be the league's best reciever, just give him a good QB.

He spends more time thinking of celebrations than practicing. He's not worth all the hype and money. There's like 10 WRs I'd take over Johnson.

Because this year he had the most yards in the NFL and the other 2 years after that he came in 2 or 3 in yards and he still scores alot of TD
GO CHAD

i really dont think there is a BEST receiver. every receiver is utilized differently in the offenses they play in. look chad is a very dominant player and everyone can agree on that. his attitude doesnt match his game though. hes not a game changing receiver. when he gets to the next level he can back up his words. dont think im hating on chad though. i love watching him play and think hes a great receiver. also i didnt see anyone mention terry glenn in any of their answers. he has stepped up quite a bit since joining the cowboys. hes definately in the top elite receivers category.

Consistancy. He is one of the better WR in the league but won't be considered the best until he becomes an every week consistant, all around WR.

Marvin Harrison has better hands. Harrison also runs tighter routes. Harrison has more catches, more yards, and has a ring. Chad Johnson may be more athletic, but he's got a ways to go to catch Harrison.

attitude and character is a big problem with Chad.
He's not as bad as TO , but he does push the rules to the limits. He knew he would be fined for putting "Ocho Cinco" on his name tag on the back of his jersey before a game, and then wearing the wrong type of shoes that were not approved by the league, and still did it anyways.
