ok as before if you saw my "What is the most accepted theory by scientists of how the Earth came to be?" I don't really want anything like religious 'cuz it's for a research project. Please post the sites because I need a work cited.

You have an interesting question there. I never thought of it that way only because I believe the entire universe and everything in it was created by the one and only God. However, here are some sites that I found. I hope they help.

The sun is a huge, glowing sphere of hot gas. Most of this gas is hydrogen (about 70%) and helium (about 28%). Carbon, nitrogen and oxygen make up 1.5% and the other 0.5% is made up of small amounts of many other elements such as neon, iron, silicon, magnesium and sulfur. The sun shines because it is burning hydrogen into helium in its extremely hot core. This means that as time goes on, the sun has less hydrogen and more helium.
Now, how did this come to be? Scientists have put forth dozens of theories about giant clouds of gases collapsing into a great fiery mass etc. But just take a look into a starry night some clear, calm night at the billions of stars and you will know that like the earth the sun was made by God.

Basically the solar system started off as a cloud of gasses and space debris that was pulled together because of gravity. The Sun and the planets were formed that way. Try here
