I have a 96 Mustang GT that I would like to have the engine replaced on. I have already purchased a remanufactured long block to install. My question is, what is a reasonable expectation for the cost of installation? I know I might need additional parts or other items, but how much should I be looking for on the installation quote? I'm in Houston, TX. Thanks.

It would depend on who is doing the repairs as a shade tree mechanic would be alot less expensive. If he/she is good or a dealer will charge by the hour generally $45-75 per hour and, you will be at the mercy of the infamous coffee break. Some certified mechanics have a set price as it calls for via Ford. Most often times you can get a swap out for $ 250-500 depending on where you live.

Hmmm, Honda dealership had parts for a 1986 Civic Wagon, brakes & fuel system, including carb. They prob dint wana work on ur '02 it cuz they charge higher labor rate for newer vehicles. You might wana rat that dealership to the Zone & Regional Managers & CEO.

If you can find a shop at all, that will install "your" block, the labor will probably be $1000, or more...
