I need help finding my target audience.

I've started a networking group in New Orleans for people looking for jobs in the non-profit sector. We meet weekly and help each other with our job searches by sharing contacts and info about job opps.
I've got a Yahoo Group, I post on Craigslist, and I have access to people who work in non-profits in New Orleans. But I am trying to meet a need with people who don't currently have jobs.

What are some effective outreach methods?

Please keep in mind that this is not a virtual networking group. I'm looking for individuals in my city to attend networking meetings in person.

Also, this group is free and I'm doing this in my spare time. So cheaper outreach methods are going to be the most realistic, but I'm open to all ideas.

Thanks!

You can check out www.idealist.org - not sure if they charge for posting however. Also, you mightt want to consider joining an association, such as the Association of Fund Raising Professionals. If they don't have a New Orleans chapter, perhaps you can start one there.

I work for a non-profit organization, and we are always looking for inexpensive or no-cost solutions for recruiting. If you're looking for recent graduates, try posting at local universities and colleges. Usually, you can post for free, just by creating an employer account. I have come across some schools that charge small fees, but have "donated" the posting when I've explained that it's for a non-profit.

The other option I've used is the job bank that Employment Insurance (EI) has. I realize you're in the U.S., so I'm not sure if there's anything similar. In Canada, the job bank is completely government funded, and is accessible in 2 ways: either directly at the EI office, or on the job bank website.

Check out http://www.laworks.net/ This is the Louisiana Works website, and upon browsing, it seems to have the same kind of setup as the Canadian EI job bank.

Hope this helps!
