Well it's hard to be yourself if you don't have a sense of self-awareness. Self awareness is the means to identify your unconscious patterns and raise them in your consciousness so they can be changed. It is through self awareness that you identify and change the underlying core beliefs that drive destructive behaviors and create happiness.

If you are afraid and unhappy in life, you can't approach people. Before you can form relationships with other people, you have to be able to form relationships with yourself.

From a purely personal and human perspective, events do not take their own course. The only thing that was meant to be is that which already occurred and events are completely conditional. This means that things happen because forces impact upon one another. For example, if you decided one day not to turn up for work and you spend the day imagining how things would have been if you were at the work place, what you imagine and what actually would have happened had you been there are in two completely contrasting dimensions: that which is thought and that which is lived. However, if you didn't show up for work that very day and your office was destroyed, possibly killing a few of your close co-workers, you might say that it was meant to be that you didn't go to work on that fateful day. I think it just happended, by chance, that you stayed home that day. What about the co-workers who lost their lives in this case? Well, they possessed the same level of consciousness that you have and would not have gone to work had they known that that fateful event would have occurred, or else they would have stayed in the safety of their homes. Now, who is to say that their homes would have been a "safe" place that very day...? Their loved ones would be dismayed and would probaby be asking: "why them?" And the truth is, nobody has the answer, except that it happened not because it was meant to be but because of a culmination of events. I would like someone to look me in the face and tell me that some of the terrible atrocities that we have witnessed, even within the last century, "were meant to be." Who meant them the way they happened? I would say, "they happened." Therefore, that which already happened is what we regard as that which was meant to be because it happened. You cannot change the future, however, your actions will coincide or conflict with those of millions of other people with billions of different desires. Even if we all want the same common good for each other, there will be tragedies because life is a fragile, nevertheless, a beautiful thing. We take care of it because it is worth living but it is easily endangered even without intent. Take care of the one that you have and try to make life liveable for as many as you can. After all, the less conflicts we have the more we enjoy this life. Some may say: "Let's pray that this or that doesn't happen to me" but the reality is that things happen whether or not you are a praying person. The next life is another thing.

Who are you? Let the real you show. Don't hide behind a "mask." Being yourself means having all of you out there, both the good and the bad. It means telling people, "Accept me for who I am with all of my attributions."

Don't let yourself become the girl's "Pygmalion Project" to become what she wants you to be.

People hide behind masks and play roles for other people, yet beneath the mask they are who they are. One can only keep up a false facade for so long, then the real "you" is visible.

Don't act like someone you're not. If you need to put on an act to get people to like you, what's going to happen when the real you comes through?
