My company have just spent £2000 on me to do some training, they say if i leave within 2 years i have to pay back the money ! can they actually make me do this ? if so how ? or if not how not ? what can i take to them to prove i do not have to pay ??????

Check your employment agreement. I have seen companies include a statement in the employment agreement that if you have to pay back any money they spent in training you during the past 12 months. If you didn't sign anything, this isn't enforceable in the US.

If you signed an agreement that you have to stay with the company for 2 years, than yes... they will make you pay the money back... if you dind't sign anything than NO!
You should know the answer.

I don't think they can do that, unless you signed something saying that you would pay them back for the training they provided you. Otherwise it's their risk.

i dont think its a ethical thing to do, for someone to train you and then leave they want top train you and get thier money back from it so to speak. but for you personally poaying it i cdon't think they can do that also check your contract see if there is anything in there or consult a lawyer
