They will side with anybody that hates George W. Bush regardless if it does our country harm. They are still pissed off because they lost the presidency twice in a row. Liberals truly feel like they are the only ones destined to rule America.

God Bless George W. Bush and God Bless the United States of America!

(I mentioned God so that ought to drive them crazy!)

The fact that, as you state, this society has great freedoms is the reason that a diverse and policitally opinionated citizenry can still be united under one flag. We liberals seek a better society, one where those freedoms are not given over to an authority built on fear. As for playing nice with the enemy, that's what subtle rulers all over the world have done to advance their own agenda. We tolerated Stalinist Russia during the 2nd WW because they were the enemy of the Axis and "the enemy of my enemy is my friend". That changed rapidly as soon as the war was over - we entered a long period of covert hostilities with Communism. As for our relationship with Hitler, it was the very liberal government of FDR that worked with the European powers to obliterate Hitler. Long before the conservative American public was willing to take on the German, Italian and Japanese forces, Roosevelt tapped George Marshall to work with Churchill to bolster their war effort. Please also remember the great effort that one of your own, Richard Nixon, made to play nice with an enemy (this is called diplomacy, by the way). He has the world's admiration for opening the door to trade with China. Without that effort, they might be an enemy the like of which we've never seen. Instead, they are now trading partners.
I don't want to leave the Middle East until we have a peaceful solution to the immense problems there, but I don't believe that what we're currently doing works. That makes me very afraid. Very afraid. But I'd rather be afraid of terrorists, than of my own government. And the liberties that are being slowly leached away by the current administration are harder to replace than lose.

Cute Genna - why are you so simple-minded and clueless? It's really not very cute! Or, are you Daddy's girl? If so, time to enlist, sweetie, and put your a** where your Daddy's policies are.

Do you truly believe that liberals side with America's enemies? That we don't love America? Why would we do that? You think we want to see our country end? WHY would we do that? THINK!!!! WE DON'T!!!!!

We love this country more than you do because we take the time to understand the issues and dig out the facts. Liberals understand and appreciate our amazing Constitution and how it is what makes us so different from the rest of the world.

Have you read the Constitution and Declaration of Independence. They're not really very long, but some of the words are big and old-fashioned. I bet if you tried you could read them.

Or, maybe not. Too much work! And we know how conservatives hate hard work!

All you do is listen to Rush and the gang. Much easier than thinking, isn't it? That's hard work!

The problem as I see it (not claiming to be an expert) is that there seems to be a disconnect between the people and the halls of power. Policy is driven by interests, not morality (the wrapping paper used to dress up the package), yet the focus we the people seem to focus on is frequently the morality of policy, as opposed to efficacy.
This is exacerbated by our winner-takes-all system that encourages polarization and the apologists this begets. No state is benevolent and neither Rebublicans or Democrats are evil, haters of America. We are all serving our interests, or attempting to...

I'm a true conservative, and I'm totally against this war. This war is for profit. We are going to take the oil reserves in southern Iran, eventually. After that, Syria and Venezuela will be on our list. The Patriot Act is being widely abused, in that it's being used for domestic investigations that have nothing to do with terrorism. Now, just watch, the 2nd Amendment is going to come under attack. What would our forefathers say?

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
--Thomas Jefferson--

"They who would give up their liberty for a temporary security deserve neither liberty nor security."
--Benjamin Franklin--

let me first state that any time you begin a sentence by saying Liberals always do 'X' or Conservatives always do 'X', it shows lazy thinking. What is a liberal? What is a conservative? Both words have been used so much that they are nearly devoid of meaning.

formation is given in the examples, and much of that which is given is faulty. lets go point by point:

Hitler:
This is the easiest by far to refute. you can move on to the next one when bored.

Actually, liberals (by which I mean democrats and especially supporters of Franklin Delano Roosevelt) were the ones beating the drums of war. In 1937, in his "Quaranantine Speech" in Chicago he called for economic embargoes on Japan and Italy, who were attacking China and Ethiopia respectively. He had not even talked about war, and yet he was sharply rebuked by isolationist conservatives.

Still, he took steps to support Britain that would lead us to war:
-In 1939 he revised the Neutrality act of 1937 so Britain could buy arms from us.
-He passed the first peacetime draft in preparation for war in 1940.
- In 1940, he traded American destroyers to Britain.
-in late 1940 he got the lend-lease act passed, making us the "arsenal of democracy" and a target of U-boats.
- he embargoed Japan. Back then we were an exporter of oil, which Japan needed. This led to war as the Japanese looked to our colonies in the Philippines for oil.

the Soviet Union
This one is more interesting. Yes, there were some (few) communists in America, but those are communists, not liberals. If you claim that liberals are communists, then please ask that as a separate question so I don't have to waste space.

Liberals are, in this era defined by a support for New Deal style social programs.

I presume your argument is that we cut and run from conflicts like Vietnam and Korea. This does not prove that liberals hate America. Rather, they believed that these wars were wasting American resources and thus making us weaker.

Harry Truman sent troops into Korea. when China entered the war and Gen. MacArthur wanted to invade China, he refused. As the chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff said, he believed it would have been the "wrong war in the wrong place at the wrong time"

Republican President Eisenhower failed to assist Hungary in their revolution against th USSR.

Vietnam. Here, we were pouring troops in with no signs of victory. The South Vietnamese government was corrupt. It's people were turning against it. We used more tons of bombs against the impoverished nation of north Vietnam than we had against the Industrialized Germany, Italy or Japan. for this reason, many liberals believed it was a waste of money and men.

Richard Nixon began the policy of Detente by selling the Soviets $750 million dollars worth of American Grains.

sorry, this has gone on for far too long.

well, here we go with another ignorant neocon post...we liberals love America-probably more than neocons...we can see how much better this country can be-we dare to dream...and when we see the country losing the very things that make it great-freedom, the promise to all of the opportunity to create a better life, equality before the law, justice, the moral 'high ground'...we have the guts to speak out...necons see America as an object of worship, that can do no wrong-and when they see this administration attacking countries on the basis of lies, torturing prisoners while condemning other countries who do the same (except for the ones we are using as sub-contractors to help with our 'torture needs'), turning over our great national resources to the folks who would plunder and pollute for profit, using the justice department to target political enemies and cover up misdeeds of political friends, they just go along with the program and smear anyone who would dare to exercise their constitutional right to dissent...

The liberals wanted to side with hitler? Often liberals seem to be regering to democrats, the President brining us to war with Hitler was a liberal Democrat who was prevented from going to war in the early stages of world war two do to conservative presure to not go to war. Conservatives "sided" with Hitler.

Maybee if you knew history enough to ask a good question you would get a good answer, but since you do not you will get unproductive answers like this one.

And, since you do not know recent history I must consider the posibility that you are not aware of conteporary events. Bin Laden views Bush's war on terrorism as a strategic victory for Al Qaida, because it is. Bush provides Bin Laden what he desires, escalation, leadint to redicalization allowing for the enviroment nessisary for Al Qaida to grow. Al Qaida has gone from a small organization holed up in Afghanistan with a couple cells here and there to a massive global movement wich is untrackable and unpredictable do to the independant nature of its associations.

Now lets go inbetween world war 2 and today and look at Comunism. Liberal John F Kenedy goes to war to stop the Comunists in East Asia. Republican Richard M Nixson ends that war and travels to China to make friends.

Any more misinformation you need me to clear up for you?

Al Qaeda replaced into began via the CIA interior the eighty's. it extremely is a actuality. we would have enjoyed radical Islam to unfold, and it has slightly. yet there are literally hundreds of muslims who are not radical, merely like there are million of christians who arent radical. what proportion christians have murdered human beings on condition that 9/11? what proportion hate crimes have been committed on condition that 9/11? Islam isn't a topic. an exceedingly very VERY small proportion of them have been taught that usa is evil, and that's because of the fact we've been killing them and dividing up their land to create conflict, and bankrupting them with our financial capacity, and using threats to take their oil at unfair expenses for many of years. Yea, I wager the Quran says that folk who arent muslim are infidels, merely like tha Bible says people who arent christian are infidels. average muslims DO upward thrust up against radicals... while's the final time you have been to the middle east or africa?

I'm not sure who you are talking about.

But as a liberal I recognize Bush as the biggest enemy of America and do not "side" with him.
