I think more dead folks will give it a shot, if they've seen Uma Thurman do it in Kill Bill.

Go to China, the underground christian church claims to heal the dead and raise them from the dead, (before burial). As for the dead rising from the grave, during the black plague, some people would appear to be dead and still be alive, but they would bury them with bells, so if they woke up while they were being buried, they could ring the bell in the box, and still be undug and let loose, but some were buried alive and could not get out, as some people moved some gravesights and dug up the graves and found that scratch marks were in the boxes of the dead that eventually sufficated and died, but could not dig themselves out of the box or out of the gravesite.

Well, actually this is true. But, the dead not climb out, it more like they float out. Before people realized this, they would bury people in a convenient place. Did not think if it a low wet area during certain times of the year. When the area became wet and saturated with water, Caskets could float up out of the ground. Septic Tanks are still seen to do this today, if, not installed properly and full of water when the rains start.
Today Grave sites are more planned to prevent the dead from rising from the grave. We place cemeteries in well drained areas.

the story your friend told you of is rooted in the voodoi religion(voodoo),in voodo yes the dead are supposedly summoned to rise and serve the priest/priestess who summoned them.and yes the practice was put into use by many morticians to bury people 6 ft deep so that if they were summoned they supposedly couldnt climb out of the grave.like in the early 1900s people were buried with a rope in the casket connected to a bell attached to their headstones to alert people that they were still alive, cause back then we didnt have the technology to do all the tests we do now a days.

Dead will definitely rise up from the grave at the end of times/judgment day .Dead people are now NOT in hell nor heaven, rather they are all in a period of nothingness, similar to the before birth period, they remain there until the final day at which the world will end,and god calls on us all to rise up and be judged for our deeds, then, and only then do we enter the eternal life in heaven,or in hell.,except for myrters who die defending their land, and religion, these people are entered directly into heaven.
