Is there a setting so my ipod will play podasts one after the other without me having to select them. I listen when driving and it's a pain as my ipod goes back to main menu as soon as a podcast has finished.

Yes! Add them to a playlist. Go down through your podcasts and stop at each one that you want. When you get it highlighted, hold the middle button until it blinks twice. After you have added them all, go back to the menu and select "playlists". scroll to "on-the-go" and select it. Scroll to the bottom and select "save". They will play one after the other.
You can then make different playlists for different kinds of podcasts. They will also show up on your computer screen when you bring up i-tunes, so you can drag podcasts in and out of it.

Just press and hold the podcasts that you want to continually play and go to playlists and choose on-the-go.
