There are three possibilities that I can think of instantly ---
Genetic recombination occurs with recessives -- meaning that a particular characteristic is likely to remain static (same percentage) for either a very long time or forever.
The study by Campiano et al out of Padua University indicates that the gene set is carried by both men and women. In males it causes homosexuality, in women it causes greatly increased fertility and sex drive. Even with birth control they average a full additional birth as compared to straight women with no gay relatives.
Genetic penetrance also plays in. We have no idea how many people carry the genes for homosexuality, it may well be 50% of the population. We do know that penetrance matters in the expression of the gene. Variations in penetrance could keep the number of gays at a steady fairly high rate forever if that is the cause also.

Because it's something that you are born with homosexuals are not their own species and they don't catch it from there parents or anyone else. A straight man and straight woman could easily have kids and 1 of them can turn out to be gay. That simple

Homosexuals CAN reroduce. It is called asexual reproduction. Straight people make gay babies, too! Just because homosexuals don't desire heterosexual sex and relationships doesn't mean we cannot reproduce. Lots of straight people reproduce without having sex, too. You people with the thumbs-down probably had a hard time finding out about all of this because information like this is concealed in BOOKS other than a bible.

Homosexuals do reproduce.
Only in recent history have we begun to have greater tolerance for homosexuals. Previously many of them lived in (somewhat troubled) heterosexual relationships and tried to live like everyone else.

They CAN reproduce, simply not with their chosen mate. Look up "recessive traits", you might not be laughed at so much if you knew what you were talking about.

Maybe you happen to see many of them where you live.
At where I live there are not so many.
At least they gather at specific places.
Reproduction is only one of many human needs like companionship...sharing same interests...hobbies...games...
food...dress...etcetera
Homosexuals have different needs than most of us. Like all of us they need to be understood.

In-utereo brain damage has been suggested as one cause - something happened that changed brain chemistry or structure. Horrific child abuse has also been suggested as a cause.
As long as those things happen to children before birth and after, our culture will have homosexuals.
There really isn't ONE cause.
