I'm running Vista Home Premium and have a E6600 CPU. However, when I right-click on Start>Computer>Properties, it shows 1.8Ghz. Screen shot:

Also, in my BIOS, it tells me that the frequency is 1.8GHz too, but the CPU is definitely an E6600 which should be 2.4 GHz.

Does anyone know why this might be? Thanks in advance.

Yes you need to go into your bios and set it to 2.4
Not being familiar with your bios I don't know exactly what it will say but you are looking for the option with optimal in it.

Well it looks to me like your FSB is running at 200Mhz instead of 266Mhz like it is supposed to. As to why it is doing this, that would be difficult to tell with the information I have. Send me an email (in my profile) and I'll see if I can help you out.

do not listen to any of these stupid answers, maybe your CPU suffered thermal damage in a layer, and is causing it to run slower. I thnk that is right, but you should take it to a good, certified, and trusted pc repair shop.

it could be because there is more then one core in the processor and the 2.4ghz is just the total power. and the 1.8 is the core power of each cpu core.

Looks like my MB only supports 800MHz (Abit SG-95). So I have my answer!
