Solid recruiting and good coaching. Plus they had lots of motivation when they could have given up after a month of listening to Ohio State being coronated before the game.
To clear up a few things:
1) In 1965, when Gatorade was invented, the Gators were 5-1-1 all-time vs. FSU, and 13-13 against Miami. Currently they hold a 30-19-2 edge against FSU, and trail against Miami 25-28.
2) The Gators didn't have to beat Ohio State by 24 points to prove that they deserved to be in the BCS title game ahead of Michigan. USC took care of that in the Rose Bowl. One would have expected the Wolverines to come out looking to prove they really were worthy of an invitation to the championship game -- instead they lost by two touchdowns. There are many ways for a team to prove it is championship caliber, but losing two of your four games against ranked opponents isn't one of them. Neither is giving up 71 points and 942 yards in your final two games.
3) Of course, Lloyd Carr didn't campaign for his team. What's his argument? "After watching lots of film of the last game, we're sure we can hold the Buckeyes under 500 yards this time." They did manage to keep USC under 500 yards (439, to be exact) -- and still didn't look very good.
4) Even with a playoff, someone would have to pick which teams are included. Urban Meyer wants a playoff (both before and after the Ohio State game), but for now, he has to deal with the system as it exists, not as he would like it to be. Good coaches do that instead of whining about what would have happened if....
5) Any team that wins a title gets an upsurge in so-called fans. If Ohio State had won, they would have the bandwagon fans. If Michigan had gotten their rematch and won, they would have them. If Boise State had played the Buckeyes and won, they would suddenly be the most popular team around. And bandwagoners are usually the most obnoxious, regardless of which team they attach their s***wagon to.
6) Neither USC nor Cal is scheduled to play the Gators any time in the near future, making it difficult for either school to own Florida -- especially considering the Gators currently have winning records against both. (1-0-1 against USC -- the tie being one of the most bizarre finishes to any football game ever -- and 2-0 vs. Cal)

Screw the Gators. Their fan only like them when theyre good.
All they did was invent Gatorade because the Hurricanes and the Seminoles were kicking their azzes up and down the field year in and year out. They may have beaten Ohio State in both Championships, but I would rather watch Greg Oden and Mike Conley any day over Noah and whoever was on the Gators. I also think that Ohio States football team was alot better to watch then some Tim Tebow jacknob who just ran the ball. Hey Tebow, why dont you play Running Back you little Sally? In 5 years when the Gators are just mediocre, there wont be any fans around, while FSU, Miami, and OSU fans will all be cheering their teams on no matter what.

Ok, I need you to keep in mind that I am a HARDCORE Gators fan and have been since the day I was big enough to pick up a football. Being from the Tampa Bay area of Florida I grew up watching the Gators in all of their glory back in the '90s and now they are back! First of all you have to realize that the University of Florida has been at the top of college football for many years, they just recently made it back to the top after a short down period in the early 2000's after future College Football HOF coach Steve Spurrier went to the NFL after the 2000 season only to come back to college football and coach the University of South Carolina. During their span in the '90s they won 4 SEC championships (SEC championship game was inducted in 1992, they were the SEC Champion in 1991 by having the best record bringing the total to 5) and they won the NCAA Champoinship in 1996. They also won the SEC in 2000 and again in 2006 when they won the BCS Championship as well. The reason they are so good is due to great coaching and very good recruiting. Florida as a state has amazing high school talent due to the great climate which allows year-round training and physical conditioning. This allows the Universities to have great recruiting classes because it is always easier to recruit in your own state. That is a major reason all 3 major universities in the state of Florida (UF, FSU and Miami) to have great recruiting classes. Being in the SEC (arguably one of the best conferences in college football) doesnt hurt, either. So to answer your question, it is mostly due to coaching and recruiting as well as the rich football history and recognition the university has obtained over the past decade and a half.

i could say the record is honest with some bands deservedly being on there together as others probable should not be. i'm attentive to all 25 whether i be attentive to a pair some genuine nicely and others purely slightly. Props as much as SY, Pavemjent, Dino Jr, Sebadoh and th eLips in spite of the undeniable fact that i could placed them up greater. additionally sturdy calls on sizeable Sand and the fall (which got here approximately to be British DJ John Peel's popular band). Tom Waits is a robust lock on there yet # a million, eh, and that i definitely get excitement from the purple living house Painters (I observed them with approximately 30 human beings at a gig down in Houston, very mellow). Hell, i've got seen 10 of them stay. definitely the only 2 i could desire to make certain casting off are Belle and Sebastian and Julian Cope as i'm not extensive on the two whether Cope had some respectable textile (Peggy Suicide - sturdy album). i could fairly have seen some Archers of Loaf, Polvo, The Jesus Lizard, or Slint in instead (whether i assume Slint develop into greater previous due eighty's). As for the bands you pronounced, those have been mainstream in my eyes. sturdy, specific, yet wrongly titled as being decision.

If your talking about football, they played the best football at the end of the season when it counted. Were they good? Yes. Were they great? Hell no. They beat a falling Razorback team who lost their final 3 games and an Ohio St team that was highly overrated with an easy schedule (except Mich, they didnt even play Wisc). On any given day a team can be off or on. Like I said Florida was on against OSU w/o Ginn Jr. I wish USC played them. It would have been the two hottest and talented teams in the nation playing one another. USC lost their rival game in their rivals stadium with a good pass rush and an injured Booty who was not mobile due to a knee injury. If Florida plays USC this yr they will be exposed. The SEC doesnt know how to play West Coast offense AND have defense which is what the SEC is known for.

To anyone who says UF is not a good school is out of their mind. How many national championships (by landslides!) do they have to win to prove they are the best. Also the fans have always been around, maybe thats why every home game has been sold out since 1979.

They have the best coaching staff, and they recruit the best players. And they OWN Ohio State now. Ha ha. How do you lose two championships in two different sports to the same team? Just ask someone who goes to OSU. Maybe they can explain.

they arent good. Tim Tebow is the most overrated player in the country just because he can pick up 1 yard on 3rd and 1.
