Your dad is correct to object.
Rabbits should be kept outside.
Anyway, they really don't make good pets,
get yourself a kitten instead...
with your dad's permission of course.

As a parent myself from past experience I*d have to suggest to you that you find another idea for a *pet*. When I moved back to Al. from Michigan my brother deemed it would be an excellent idea to purchase two rabbits for my children(ages 7 & 9) complete with cage, and the reassurance that they were the same gender. We kept them inside for about 2 days. We laid old newspapers underneath the cage to catch the bodily discharges, and had to change it out 2-3 times daily. The smell, was sickening. We bought a standing cage, thinking that if the bodily discharges were allowed to *fall through * it would eliminate the odor...wrong....it became like a ant bed building up. Any time we would walk outdoors the odor would assauge us. We tried moving the cage....after a couple of days it*d be the same thing again. Plus the same gender...we woke one morning and when going to tend to the rabbits we discovered mutilated baby rabbits....the male rabbit will eat the babies,,yuk....once they start reproducing..better buy several cages..it*s a constant happening. By putting them outdoors..you have to ensure that you have a cage high enough off the ground that other animals(dogs)can*t get to them, and then you face constant neighborly complaints about how your rabbits are the cause of the dogs yapping and keeping up a ruckus all hours of the day and night.
Sorry to be so long winded...just wanted to explain why I have to concur with your dad, and say NO.

Rabbits do smell. But, due to their vegetation-like diet they do not smell horribly bad.
You can litter train rabbits but, it takes a lot of time and patience. Accidents will happen so, I would not try it on parquet floors.
It would probably be better if you got a large cage. They would need bedding like you use for other rodents.
Also in the summer or heat, flies are attracted to rabbit waste. You might have a problem there.

Rabbits are outdoors animals, they would definitely smell up a room. Also they are temperate zone animals and would not do well in a tropical or sub tropical setting. On the other hand, rabbits are likely to become a major source of protein in an increasingly crowded World.

Rabbits do smell really bad if you don't clean them or their cage. I just recently gave away 2 rabbits that my brother gave my daughter. They chew on everything. They're cute but I personally didn't like them as a pet.

OK...here is the deal...ANY animal smells as bad as its owner lets it. Think of this fairly! Animals don't get to use a toilette and flush their waste away. Their waste lays in their cage or litter pan and obviously leaves a lingering odor. If you are diligent about keeping your animals cage clean it will drastically reduce or eliminate any odor.
Good luck!

Rabbits themselves dont smell but their poo and pee does.
No bedding is needed but it would be good for them.
