Do you think it is a shame that the most exciting match so far ( West Indies v England ) was one on which the result didn't matter, as both teams couldn't reach the last four ? Or was it the best game because both sides were relaxed and not worried?

The West Indies v England match just goes to show the pressure that a tournament that the World Cup puts on players. You could tell just by watching the players' body language that they were all a lot more relaxed with nothing left to play for except pride and I think that was a big reason for the players playing so well. For example, I don't think Chris Gayle would have been playing with such reckless abandon if a place in the Semis was still resting on the game.
But that said, there have been other exciting matches in this competition when there were still things at stake, for instance the infamous Ireland v Zimbabwe tie and the last-ball epic England v Sri Lanka match. There is a large mental aspect to cricket and any team who is under a lot of stress and not thinking straight is rarely going to do better than a team who are just out there to have fun.

If the game between England and West Indies was the best so far I would also say it shows how weak these two teams are that they could not bear the pressure of the WC and could not perform when it mattered most and now when the result had nothing to they played their best cricket. This is the sign of great teams that they always rise to the occasion and play to their potential. England and West Indies may set some new world records now it can never mend their poor world cup show and who cares now?

While there is no doubt that the most exciting game in the current world cup was between England and West Indies, unfortunately both the teams came into form very late and as such the match did not have any significant in the world cup. The other exciting game in the world cup was the match between South Africa and Sri Lanka.

It went untill the last ball . nail biting moments and most of all they were fighting for the seat in the semi's::
It was a real battle. not like the fake battle like west indies & England last match.::

i think the match between West Indies and England was the Best Game...its because they played good cricket not because of thier results didnt matter but it was just a good match which made batting runs 300+...and thats really gud...because we hardly come to see interesting matches like this wen there are equal teams with good runs...
and the best thing was that brian lara's international career ended in a cruel run out and an unfortunate one-wicket defeat in the ICC CWC Super Eight match
