I'm not sure what are you asking, but in Ballroom it seems like Italian style (in Standard) is popular to no surprize - Mirko and Alessia are now the first.
As for tendencies, I think showdance indicates the tendencies for future competitive ballroom. People tend to put more interesting elements and unexpected accents in their showcases that they don't dare to put on the competition floor just yet. They also use slightly unusual music for the show which later becomes ballroom top hit.
I notice that in professional showcases every standard couple tends do to a Tango with elements of Argentine Tango. This particular trend annoys me actually. As for the dances I know so far - that's pretty boring subject, I think. 10 International, 9 American, plus some nightclub. Plus a buch of irrelevant random stuff. LOL.
