Here is the thing it really depends on the brand of mini van. They all use different qualitys of fabric and leather. Here is what we have found. Leather again depends on whos. Some have liltle holes in the hide so the hide can brethe. No so good for spills. Milk on leather realy stinks. Heat/cold. I have seen kids burt real bad while wearing shorts in the summer on leather seats. If they jump on a bitter cold seat it will split. Tears, punctures and burns.. real expensive to fix and if its a high end car the dye batch will not be the same and will never exactly match. Cloth again it depends on whos. Very durable generally, resits punctures. I have had a mechanic or two jump in a car with a screw driver in their back pocket and destroy both cloth and leather seats. Cloth however is easy to fix and you can get exact fabric matches. Spills. well unless you let them soak cloth will wipe up well. On a mini van the seats pop out so you can clean them real easy. Ask when you buy the van if the cloth seaths have "Scotch Guard" on them. Many do. If you ever rented a mini van you will see that most all have cloth. There is a reason for that.. They can take the abuse that different rental customers put the seats through. What I recommend is cloth and apply a coat of scotch guard to the seats from time to time. I am no soccer mom but I have seen litterly thousands of these vehicles over the years with both leather and cloth.. The knock out stick of milk on leather in august in a black town & country still lingers in my brain. The Next time some one said "hey boss go open the door on that van" I stayed at my desk and will from now on. Ever see a leather carpet?? I rest my case..

Mini Leather Seats

Leather seats are better for wiping up spills that a cloth seat would absorb. Still, it's best to be proactive and tell your kids to not leave crayons in the car that could melt onto the seats and no drinking in the cars until they are responsible enough to not spill. Also, any food that gets dropped in the car gets picked by the child. Even a preschooler can pick up their own dropped french fries. When they get tired of picking them up, they will remember to find their mouths when they are eating instead of dropping food onto themselves and the floor.

the average kid will definitely ruin them if you must have leather and your child is almost out of the destructive years you may consider vinyl seat covers [remember leather has to breathe] so you can't leave the vinyl on for long, canvas will breath but wont protect against spills. note with kids nowadays you may consider doing the whole back of the van in rubber and periodically washing it outwith a fire hose [especially before bringing it [the car] in for service.

Leather is the way to go. if you spill it can be wiped clean but cloth seats will stain. As long as the kids do not puncture them with something they should be fine. but if they punctured any seat it would not be good. You could also ask if they come in vinyl.

Leather requires special care to avoid drying and cracking, but it is easier to keep clean most of the time.
Kids will, of course, ruin any seat material. That's what they do. That's who they are.
Eventually, they will turn into teenagers and hate you for driving an uncool vehicle. Then they become adults, and have children of their own. Wait for that day and save your laughter.
Cheers.

It's a matter of preference. Kids will ruin anything given the chance

I suggest you go and get some bright red shoe polish and rub it in well. Then let it sit for half an hour or so then rub it off. Good luck.
