That's odd! Well frankly speaking i'm not that type of guy who spends a lot with family, but im not saying family is bad. Family is a good thing on a well planned occassional basis. I'm saying is you have to have time with you girlfriend or boyfriend specially with you family as well. If you ask me, i spend time with both, the best thing is balance it 50/50 trust me it'll work. Family they will always be there for you but a girlfriend... hmmm i think try to focus on her than bring her to your family outtings.

I spend time with my friends but I'm about to ask this girl out and the main thing is I will devote alot of my time to her once I hook up with her. Not a very common problem I don't think.

Because boyfriends are not married and they do not feel the need to apply marriage like commitment to a dating relationship.
However, like the answers above me, I am not sure how common this is.
