Through Adam, the inherent inclination to sin entered the human race and human beings became sinners by nature. When Adam sinned, his inner nature was transformed by his sin of rebellion, bringing to him spiritual death and depravity which would be passed on to all who came after him. Humans became sinners not because they sinned, they sinned because they were sinners. This is the condition known as inherited sin. Just as we inherit physical characteristics from our parents, we inherit our sinful natures from Adam. King David lamented this condition of fallen human nature in Psalm 51:5: “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.”

Why do you ask the question? Who told you what sin was and who accused you of it? Would it be the Christian church by any chance? You are not a sinner and you do not sin. You are a child of the Creator and you came here for a purpose that you decided on before you arrived. You were created perfect and you are perfect. You are a beautiful spirit in a perfect body. Live and enjoy your life and stop 'suffering' from an invention of the church. Open your eyes to Gods beautiful/awesome world and know that you are loved and have absolutely no need to 'be saved'.

Sin is a religious word for Crime. As violating the law of the land is considered Crime, so also, violating the law of the Lord is considered Sin.

It's not that we are suffering from sin, but the fact is that,

once we become slaves to sin, we are not able to come out of that, and we get a feeling that we are doing something that violates our conscience... This is the reason why we suffer because of sin.

Sin can be defined in various ways,I look at it like this, sin is the antithesis of the truth and God is the truth,it is His holy nature to be true to Himself and anything contrary to this is anti-God.
Sin says that God is not what He is,it makes us His creatures appear to be above God and His holy nature,in other words by sin we defy God and accuse Him of being a liar.
This is the sin that is above all sins for it is self deluded pride,we also know that to call the Holy Spirit a liar is the unforgivable sin or offence that will not be forgiven.
Sin then is any action willingly performed by the creature against the express will of God that insults His divine Goodness and injures the life of ourselves and others both spiritually and physically.

Sin refers to missing the mark. As in, you buy a new car for obvious reasons, and when you get it the engine cannot run and cannot be made to run -- it has missed its bought for purpose.

Thus when Adam sinned he did so before having any children. Think of todays technology, much is made by shaping material in molds. If the mold has a defect, all the products will show this defect. In that way we all inherited Adam's sin, and it causes us to grow old and die, to make mistakes we cannot prevent doing.

Romans 5:12 Because of this, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, so also death passed to all men, in that all sinned. (ACV)
