The little people would be trained in exactly the same methods and tactics, except they wear smaller uniforms.

What do you think?

Good Idea!! Plus, they can be very sneeky, fit in small spaces, and shoot a man in the kneecaps before he ever saw it coming....I'm not seeing a downside here!

I'll take this seriously for a minute...

First problem is that some midgets have health problems that either are also caused by whatever made them midgets or are caused by them being midgets.

Second, assuming that they are healthy, there are issues of scale: A three-and-a-half-foot tall human is going to have a hell of a time running four miles in 36 minutes to graduate Airborne school.

Finally, assuming you could find healthy midgets that could pass the Physical Training requirements, it's unlikely most of them could physically handle the loads required operationally. For some missions, the loads start out at 160 pounds plus. If you have an 80 pound midget, that's him carrying twice his body mass. Most humans can only tolerate loads to about 100-110% with proper fitness and training.

So... maybe not midgets in SF.

CIA, maybe...

Other than sticking out like a sore thumb in most populations.

Special Forces do not get a lot of press because they are not supposed to. I won't repeat what I was told. I will tell you it is incredibly difficult to make the grade. Okay-one thing. Thier butt gets dumped out of a chopper into the ocean. They have to find the underwater cave, swim through it until they reach the air pocket. Then find thier way out and to the surface. Once there, they have to be able to orient themselves to direction with no visible signs. Swim in the right direction to get picked up by chopper again. Not my idea of a good time. These guys do really dirty work and fly under the radar of the press.

Lol, i have to assume you are serious in asking this question. The U.S. armed forces actually used to recruit shorter people in Vietnam during the 60s to serve as "tunnel rats". Because the vietcong travelled all over the countryside in a series of underground tunnels that were a bit confining for the average U.S. Soldier. I don't know if they'd go as far as recruiting midgets, but if the situation in the battlefield calls for the use of "tunnel rats", then the special forces might think about hiring more short guys. But with the current availability of remote controlled robotic probes and bunker busting missiles, I doubt if the situation would require it to come down to hiring midgets or hobbits for that matter.
