A True Word of God will be void of any inconsistencies and contradictions. But, the Bible is not void of the two. Hence, it CANNOT be the Word fo God.

I know the Bible is God's word because I know the author personally.
What people do with the Bible is their own choice. God will not force anyone to obey it.
Christians and Jews are not the only ones who know what the Bible teaches and don't obey it. There are many who come here who do the very same thing, and then try to point out the faults in others to justify their disobedience to God's word.

(1) Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Bible is the only source of God's Word.
(2) The first Christians "were persevering in the doctrine of the apostles" (Acts 2:42; 2 Tim 1:14) long before the New Testament was written — and centuries before we knew with certainty which books were part of the New Testament.
(3) The Bible affirms that Christian teaching is "preached" (1 Pet. 1:25), that the Apostles' successors were to teach what they have "heard" (2 Tim. 2:2), and that Christian teaching is passed on both "by word of mouth [and] by letter" (2 Thess. 2:15; 1 Cor. 11:2).
(4) Not everything Christ did and said is recorded in Scripture (Jn. 21:25).
(5) New Testament authors availed themselves of sacred Tradition. For example, Acts 20:35 quotes a saying of Jesus that is not recorded in the Gospels.
(6) Scripture needs an authoritative interpreter (Acts 8:30-31; 2 Pet. 1:20-21, 3:15-16).
(7) Christ left His Church with divine authority to teach in His name (Mt. 16:13-20, 18:18; Lk. 10:16).
(8) The Church will last until the end of time, and the Holy Spirit protects the Church's teaching from corruption (Mt. 16:18, 28:19-20; Jn. 14:16).
(9) The Church — and not the Bible alone — is the "pillar and bulwark of the truth" (1 Tim. 3:15).
(10) The Bible refers to more sources of the Word of God than only Scripture. Jesus Himself is the Word (Jn. 1:1, 14), and in 1 Thess. 2:13, St. Paul's first epistle, he refers to "the Word of God which you heard from us." There St. Paul is clearly referring to oral apostolic teaching.

Serious Christians and Jews follow it but sometimes we are tempted and we succumb. There is nothing wrong with that. God knows our weaknesses and understands. What is important to him is our intention.
Now to answer your first question.
Do you really want to know if the Bible is the word of God? Here is a time-tested method for uncovering the mystery of the Word of God: "the child of God (that's me) takes the Word of God (the Scriptures) into the presence of God (prayer) and lets the Holy Spirit of God (the Author) make that Word come to life for me and, more importantly, in me."
Another advice: if you want to prove to yourself or anyone else that the Bible is the Word of God, then I suggest you put the teaching of Jesus on forgiveness into practice. Forgive everyone, especially the people who have hurt you the most. If you find it difficult to forgive, ask God to help you forgive them. Pray for this every day, for weeks, even months until you can honestly say to yourself that you have forgiven them. Forgive also yourself - for the things you did and did not do. I guarantee you a miracle will happen in your life. If there is no miracle, come back to me and say the Bible is not the Word of God. I will believe you.
Peace and every blessing!

Religions claim that the Bible is the word of God. But the continuous finding of mistakes in it proves that it is the word of ancient un-knowledgeable people or that God didn't know better. How did Noah get to the Amazon Rain Forest to gather some of the 1 million different species of insects? With Adam & Eve, the ancient people who created the story didn't know that if members of the same family propagate, the children are always born with genetic defects. However some religions continue to say to believe that it's the word of God or be punished.

Yes, it is. It depends what you mean about following it strictly. Which part? We are no longer bound to old testament law, but are to live spiritually in the New Testament. Even then, we are all still human beings and we wrestle with a sin nature that fails God. The difference is, we are forgiven, not perfect. Unbelievers are also not perfect, but they are not forgiven and will be judged for their own failure. The Bible teaches that when we receive Christ, we are no longer condemned. Christ satisfies justice on our behalf. We now want to obey but at times fail. We are forgiven. Before we knew Christ, we did not want to obey, and failure was all we did. We were not forgiven. Nobody can follow every good command of God strictly. We are just plain incapable. But Christians will be able to one day, the day Christ returns and finishes the work in us that He began. We are a work in progress. Unbelievers are a work in digress.

Yes it is. The Gospel of John, chapter 1 explains why. The reason Christians and Jews fail to follow it strictly, is because we are weak and imperfect. In other words, we are human. But we rely on God's mercy and grace.

No. No one has ever spoken to "God".
but if you want to lead a good life, follow the 10 commandments & do unto others as you would have them do unto you. So many so-called Christians are the biggest liars & cheats in history. I bet Ken Lay went to church on Sunday, and look what he did to his employees - stole their retirement savings, left them unemployed & broke, without so much as an apology.

Of course not - there are no gods.
Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.
