They can't. They are taught they must convince you or they can have no self esteem. When you don't give in as your supposed to they whine and attack. Then they try trick questions and get more frustrated because the question are usually very simplistic and we make the questioner look dumb.
If you try to have a straight across info swap, they just know you're going to convert, and, when you don't they go into a rage. Everything they do is programed and their shouters make sure they have the proper rationalization and Bible verses.
The worst is, when you've been around them for a while they become completely predictable.....and that is truly sad.

No disrespect Eva L (and you're right, religious people can be kinda' arrogant), but is there really proof for anything? Yeah, there's laws of science, etc, but even those are all theorys. There isn't an honest scientist today that would tell you that they know for sure that even the "laws" of science will even exist tommorow. There's a high probablity, but no proof.
The fact is, we all believe what we believe by faith, not fact. Unless you were around when the world began to know how it all started and how it all works, you really can't claim to know facts. You believe what you have been taught by faith.
Does this make sense?

First of all, I do not find ALL religious people to be stupid nor annoying. I do find those who insist that their way is the only right way to be annoying. It strikes me as rather narrow minded and I find narrow mindedness in any form to be annoying. That being said, I have also found that if I talk to people in a calm, quiet voice, they will usually respond with the same. If I am nonjudgmental, I usually get a nonjudgmental response.
Religious beliefs tend to be deeply personal and thus are something that many folks hold dear to their heart. It is easy to become loud and judgmental when we discuss any topic that fits that criteria. I have many friends of various faiths who feel deeply about their religion but treat me with respect because I treat them with respect. We simply agree to disagree.
Not to pick on any one group, but for some time I was convinced I had become part of the training ground for the local Jehovah Witness missionaries. I formed a friendship with the mother of one of my son's classmates. One day our conversation turned to religion and we realized we did not share the same beliefs. She did not know where I lived and showed up at my door during her mission work one day. We laughed and had a lovely conversation. After that day, she came back several times with new "trainees", who later came back with their own "trainees". I took time to talk to them politely, explaining my beliefs and expressing respect for theirs. I accepted their literature, read it and filed it.
Yes, it took a few moments out of my day to do so. I could have told them don't bother me and don't waste my time or their own. I chose not to take that approach and met some lovely women who simply believed differently than I do.
I have found this approach works time after time. If I resorted to calling them stupid or annoying, or insisted my way was the only right way, I am sure it would have been different.
The key, in my not so humble opinion is to simply be respectful of others. If they respond without respect, I have the choice of removing myself from their presence.

Annoying, perhaps but not stupid. Would you consider Albert Einstein, the greatest mind the world has ever known stupid?
Einstein's theories have been thoroughly proved and verified by experiments and measurements, but there's an even more important implication of Einstein's discovery. Not only does the universe have a beginning, but also time itself, our own dimension of cause and effect, began with the Big Bang.
That's right -- time itself does not exist before then. The very line of time begins with that creation event. Matter, energy, time and space were created in an instant by intelligence outside of space and time.
About this intelligence, Albert Einstein wrote in his book "The World As I See It" that the harmony of natural law "Reveals an intelligence of such superiority that, compared with it, all the systematic thinking and acting of human beings is an utterly insignificant reflection."
He went on to write, "Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe--a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble."
Pretty significant statement, wouldn't you say?
Peace and every blessing!

You cannot generalize by claiming that "Religion is all beliefs none of it is facts".There are factual things in religion, like verifiable historical events....but a lot of it is just ridiculous.
I wouldn't necessarily call religious brainwashed fanatics stupid. A lot of them actually have pretty high IQ's. They are quite annoying though.

Its you who is stupid and annoying to the believers of God. We are only inviting your attention to our belief as it was written on the bible that we must teach the nonbelievers to love God and believe God but you deny our request. So be it
You are very stupid for not believing God who created you. You are supposed to thank God for giving you life
and now you are against him. How stupid it is to know.
Do not tell me that your mother have sexual relationship with the apes that is why you are now living as human and say that your ancestors are apes. How foolishness is in your miond.

Why are atheists like you so judgemental and insulting?
You mock what you cannot understand.
"For the wisdom of God is foolishness to men."
"Only the fool has said in his heart, there is no God."
Can you prove empiracly that absolutely, God does not exist? No you can't. So please dont pretend to know everything. And at least we have hope of a happy eternal future. You have nothing after this life, and have nothing to offer to the despairing and the dying. Your intellect has failed you many times. And now it stands in the way of you embracing God.

Religious people are annoying because they close their minds to the truth and more especially because they hurt other people. They often murder people. I thank God I am not religious; I am a Christian. I used to be a religious "Christian".
