i idolise Mike Tyson, his agression really was used in the correct way. He was a true phenom in the sport. Had he kept on the stright and narrow he would have without a doubt been the most feared long term champion since Sonny Liston.

also, he would have smacked that lenox lewis into the next millenium, ended Holyfield and i think would have held the belt probably for a record amount of years....

I disagree with most of the responces referring to Tyson as stupid. In the majority of his interviews he was pretty well spoken. I WILL say that he HAS said some foolish things after fights and sometimes controversial things prior to fights. Mike Tyson was a beast and Don King raped Tyson for all he could. When his trainer, mentor, and close friend Custamado died it devastated him. Not only that, but the quality of his training fell drastically. If Custamado had not have died, and he hadnt of fired Rooney, I believe Mike Tyson would have knocked out Lennox Lewis regardless to the fact that Tyson was past his prime and Lewis was IN his prime during the time the fight took place. I would also like to say that Lennox Lewis fights like a pussy. He is defense defense defense and its annoying to watch him fight(if you can call it fighting). The only reason he manages is because he's just naturally big and tall.
To adress your question, when Mike Tyson switched trainers he did alot of things differently. He stopped pumping his jab, he stopped bobbing and weaving, and he tried for instant knockouts which took away from his tallent. Regardless, even though his career could have turned out better it doesnt mean that it turned out bad. Mike Tyson will remain my favorite boxer and will be held in my regards, as well as the regards of countless others as the best boxer of all time.

Good question. In his prime, he was the most feared man on the planet. Hands down, no one could beat him. But he was a victim of his youth and his stupidity. If he would have kept his mind and heart in boxing, he probably wouldnt have dona 5 years for rape, and he probably wouldn't have bitten Evander Hollyfield's ear. Unfortyunately, this question is like asking "what if Joradn didn't retire for two years in the middle of the Bulls' championship run?".

The truth is, Tyson had all of the tools to be a great fighter, and in all actuality, he was one of the greatests to watch in his time. Even though the fights only lasted one round, it was such an incredible sight to see a boxer make such short work of the world's best fighters. That made him entertaining. We can "what if" it all day, but the truth is, he was a great, then his life went downhill, and never was the same.

The blogbaba is not a big fan of Mike, but some of the class and dignity of Santana did rub off on the blogbaba. Mike had the best support group of any boxer in the history of the sport. Cus, Jimmy Jacobs, Bill Clayton, Teddy Atlas, Kevin Rooney, you will never see than much hall of fame talent in the corner of another fighter as long as you live. Early in his career they put him in the ring with fighters they knew he could beat in devastating fashion, then did a world class job of marketing Mike. Everyone on the planet saw Mike just turning out lights with crushing punches.

Unfortunately Mike has flaws, and couldn't handle the success and the spotlight. I have to agree with 10-T3 and Keith, Mike's career would have turned out the same, because no amout of support replaces taking personal responsibility for your own actions. You can only "help " somebody for a limited time, then they must take responsibility for their own actions or lack thereof.

You can not be stupid and be a world champion and Mike Tyson is not stupid regardless of what he has done. If Cus had not died Tyson would be the greatest heavy weight champion who ever lived. Tyson had the best team behind him in history

He definately would have been much better, I still think that he probably would have lost to Lennox Lewis though, just due to the fact that Lewis is a major power threat and has that extreamly long jab. But he would have been much better, Rooney would have been much better(not the drunk he is today)

Not very good. Boxing is one of those sports where when you get older you have to call it quits. He wouldn't be anything like he was in his prime, no matter how much he wanted it.
