These stories were passed down orally for over 2500 years before being written. Most credible resources on the subject were banned by ruling officials down through the ages. Adam and Eve were Nephilims(Sons of God designed for earth) sent to benefit mankind like the Nodite tribe. Once a Nephilim mate(forbidden fruit) with mankind they (DIE) lose their power as Adam and Eve did. When a Nephilim dies, he lives over 900 more years as a Nephil-man then dies again. Man at the time of Adam lived about 40 years. Eve mating with the Nodite produced Cain who lived about 500 years. The floods were periodic occurrences in the Mesopotamia when the four rivers there overflowed. There was no worldwide flood. Abraham had over 300 servants, and fought armies of thousands, who had not been destroyed in Noah's flood. The old testament is the history of the Israelites, not the world. When writing the history of the Israelites, the Hebrew writers were unable to reconstruct the linage of all Adam's descendants so they used the flood story to avoid the task.

The ten commandments were a rule book of sorts for people who had become barbaric and who had drifted far from God. However, those commandments are effectively summarised into two commandments: love God and love all human beings. Those commandments were given to stubborn people who did not feel like thinking critically or developing a sense of perspective, just like the religious right and just like those skeptics of the Bible who choose to do only a superficial reading of it. Adam and Eve, even though they did not know it, had the ten commandments in the Garden of Eden. They did not, however, need to be told these in the beginning as they had no intent in the beginning of doing anything crazy. However, they did find out about God's laws soon enough and I am sure throught their lives. God has relationships with people. He does not simply give them a book to look at it. That would be crazy. Also, God already introduced at least of the ten commandments with Cain. "Thou shalt not murder". Actually, Adam and Eve broke two of the commandments already when they were in the Garden of Eden. God had warned them without mentioning commandments but He warned them. First, they chose another god before Him. They chose their own pride, and in fact chose the devil. They then also lied about their deed. Eve blamed the devil and Adam blamed Eve for their actions. You need to understand too that God speaks to people throughout history on terms they can understand. Adam and Eve were still too naive to understand commandments. This is why God simply warned them not to disobey for they would die. I actually wonder if they even understood what death meant. It is a question I am still trying to answer.

Wow-w-w-w-w, good question! I think that because Adam was made directly from God and then Eve from Adam that God thought that they would be tucked contentedly away in Paradise. But, Noooooooo! Adam was codependent on Eve and blew that cake walk. Now all of us there after, are wandering the earth without a clue to the WHY of many things and now that you brought this up I am mad about it. Give me back my paradise dang it! I cannot talk about the mad scene on location when the 10 Commandments were given out but I do know those little set of directions are for our own good.

What would you have done with driving instructions at, say, age 4, Coo? Humanity had to have a basic understanding of the gravity. It took until some long time after the flood to appreciate these basic instruments to happiness and fulfillment. It may be interesting to note that "coveting ones wife, etc., was between that one and God, alone. There was no other knowledge or enforcement. No other culture has ever had such a ( righteous ) prohibition.
Ellipse4? Yes. They understood death, perfectly. 1st, why would God explain such if they were incapable of grasping it? 2nd, Eve repeated the warning to the serpant when challanged. 3rd, God clearly told them, " for dust you ARE and DUST you will RETURN."
Incidently, this discounts "hellfire", as God would have plainly stated this as their punishment for disobedience. Death is the opposite of life: thus, the need for Jesus' promised resurrection of the faithful and some unfaithful to judgement.

Adam and Eve have their first law from God that they will not eat the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge.
The ten commandments was given to Moses because Moses was a holy man at that time who can teach the wrong doers to believe in God but they did not mind God as the atheists are now doing.

Because it wasnt necessary. They were righteous by faith, not by works (like in the old covenant, with the ten commandments)
You will find that the Law was given to show people how sinful they were (Romans). So God cut a covenant, between God and man. If the man would break the covenant (which is more than an agreement) he would pay the mistake with his life.
People before and after Abraham were very ignorant about their position, about what really happend because of Adam and Eve. They were wrong and sinful, but still God didnt want to impute sin ,He still wanted them to be righteous by faith, not by their works.
But the people of Israel,in the desert, asked for the ten commandments ...being very proud and thinking they can be righteous by faith in front of the Lord.
In these circumstances, God decided to cut that covenant and let them have their own way,in order to realise that they`re sinful, and they cant be righteous by their own strength.
God saw this old covenant was bad,and caused death . So He sent Jesus to die on the cross. He cut a new covenant made not between man (failible) and God (infailible) . But between Jesus (God) and The Father (God). Two infailible Persons, cutting a new covenant, and we`re the beneficiaries.
We`re righteous by faith, now, and not by works.
Its not "i do therefore i am", but "i am ,therefore i do".
And looking to Jesus means we are transformed. We start realising, one day, that "hey,i stopped breaking any of these 10 commandments, without even trying.. just by looking at His love and sacrifice for me,and living by faith ".
That`s life :) bless u !

adam and eve were his first creations, how can they break the commandmetns if they didn't have a neighbor, steal, covet etc.......in this first covenant between god and humanity there was no call for the 10 commandments, you could also ask why he didn't give the 10 commandments in his covenant with noah/abraham/david. god in infinite wisdom knew and knows what is best. some things we can understand and others with faith we can accept as we could never comprehend the fullness of truth given to us,except maybe when all things are revealed when we are united to him.

God thought they'd be scared off by the 10 Commandments, argue heatedly over whether they "had" to follow them or not, probably would have split up, and definitely never would have had kids.
So God waited until there were lots of descendants, before taking all the fun out of life for people and expecting them to follow a rigid moral doctrine.

God wrote the Ten Commandments into Adam and Eve's heart...also there was no written language at the time...later God gave Man the ten commandments to Moses.

1) So Abraham could be justified by faith (as a precursor to Christians being justified through faith in Christ)
2) Because the Old Testament law was only meant to bind us until the Messiah would come
3) Because Moses returned the Israelites to their original land, in essence creating the nation of Israel. This indicates the Law was meant only for Israel, and that is why it was written in Hebrew for the Jews, not in a global language for everyone.
