it sounds like you could have TMJ (check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporomandibular_joint_disorder for some info)
you say you grind your teeth so it is possible you might do that when you are sleeping and also perhaps clench your teeth. it's all to do with pressure on your jaw joint. it's very common.
you need to go to your dentist and explain and he will investigate further. i have TMJ from a car accident i had 15 yrs ago. i do jaw massage and also some exercises i was given. i also wear a night guard every night which is like a retainer and is supposed to ease pressure on your jaw joint when you sleep. it definitely helps me. if you go to your dentist, he will know what to look for.

THIS ZONE IS WHERE THE TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT IS LOCATED IN YOUR JAW.
THE FACT THAT YOU GRIND ALSO EXPLAINS THE JAW PROBLEM IS A SLIPED AURICULAR DISK IN THE TMJ. A USEFUL APPLIANCE THAT WILL STOP YOUR GRINDIND IS FOUND HERE:

I'VE MADE MANY FOR MY GRINDING PATIENTS, AND IT WORKS VERY WELL AT ELIMINATIN IT.
